What have you learned from your audience feedback.pptx2
1. What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
By Chantelle, Clarissa and Anjola
2. • During the planning stage, we sent a questionnaire around to a number of people inside the
target audience bracket to find out what they think a horror film should contain, asking what
they do and don't like in a films inside the horror film genres. We also asked what different
features should be included in a teaser trailer and what they did and did not like about horror
films. We discovered that many people thought that a horror trailer should start with
suspense music. We also learnt that people preferred Psychological trailers and that people
preferred sounds/music within the trailer. Therefore we made sure that we stuck by the
things that gathered the most votes from our questionnaire in order to produce the most
effective trailer we could. This below is a template of my questionnaire. I handed my
questionnaire out to 30 people and gathered the results together. We also created pie charts
that show the results.
3. • The reason why we did audience research was to work out the target audience for our own
horror trailer and to see if they had any similarities to the 2 horror trailers we analysed. Now
that we have some results, we will be able to adapt our horror trailer to what our audience
prefer.
• We first created a questionnaire in which we asked a variety of 12 different questions which
will help us to construct our horror trailer and initial ideas. The questionnaire that we created
was handed to students around our college.
Age
• From this pie chart result, it is able to see that the majority of people to fill out my
questionnaire were between the ages of 16-18 and then next was 19-20 year olds. This was
intentional as we will be looking for my target audience to be around this age range. Most
horror films are rated either 15 or 18 because of the stuff they include for
example, violence, horror, drugs etc... This analysis had given us an idea on what to rate our
film and the guidelines to follow in order for our film to be rated at that specific rating.
4. Opening of a Horror
This was an interesting question I asked in my questionnaire. I was determined to see what people like
to first see or hear in the opening of the trailer. From the results we can see that Suspense music was
most popular and high-pitched and low-pitched noises we least popular. As darkness was the second
most popular opening of a horror, in my trailer I could have darkness and suspense music to begin the
trailer.
5. • This is the target audience profile for “The Texas chainsaw
massacre” from this information we can gather that the majority
watching this film were between the ages of 15-24 with 60%, 24%
between 25-34, 9% 35-44 and 8% 45+ this is as the film has a
certificate rating of “18” meaning it is not suitable/ recommended
for anyone below 18, also it is aimed more towards a older
generation due to mature themes and not appropriate for a person
younger, furthermore we can see that a large scale of 53% were
male compared to the 47% of females this could be due to the fact
that this particular film is more to the taste of males and most
probably the females making up this percentage were most likely to
be the wives of girlfriends of the males. We also used the Pearl and
Dean Website to determine which target audience we are appealing
to.
6. As you can see from the results displayed
about 60% of people we asked were of a age
range of 15-24 year olds , while the age range
25-34 has about 30% .
