2. Newline Cinema
• We would like to introduce our ideas for a new
psychological thriller film in which we think would
work successfully through the production of your
studio. Through researching the history of your
company we have worked out that your film studio
would work best for us.
3. Institution
We believe New line cinema would be suitable for our film trailer, doing research into
the psychological thriller history we found out that many of the top thrillers were made
by your institution.
When we discovered this we decided to research more into new line cinema to see if
you would be a suitable film studio for our movie and trailer.
Your institution has produced and distributed many other successful films that are of
the same genre as ours for example:
• Number 23
• A nightmare on elm street
• The conjuring
• Final destination 5
• A butterfly effect.
4. Institution
All of these main psychological thriller films are listed in the top rating chart in the psychological
thriller genre and have all been very popular in the cinema and making a large revenue as shown
below.
We would like our film to be in the same situation and also for our trailer so it helps us to get a good
response for our targeted audience to be captivated and wanting to go watch the film.
This is why we would like our trailer/film to be distributed by your company as they have been giving a
good response and have been very successful.
As you are an American based studio we feel as though you can broaden our audience and can cover a
international area which means our film can be widely available.

Number 23

5. Plot
The conventions of a psychological thriller would be that it is based around ne main
character who has a psychological problem. As the story progresses we realise that the
character either is unsure of what he is doing or goes insane. A brief outline of our
story is that it is based around a man who has schizophrenia which is related to the
theme of psychological. He is married but unfortunately their little girl was murdered
but the murderer was never found. As the man is trying to find out who killed his
daughter he starts to go crazy trying to find out who done, he uses a shed to write
down everything that he finds but he writes on the walls so it is easier for him to look
through everything as he is going crazy. A consequence of him going crazy he starts to
argue with his wife and as he is getting agitated with trying to find out who killed his
daughter he tries to kill a man who he thinks killed her. In the last scene he is in his
shed as he is unaware of what he is doing now, he starts writing down everything he
knows but both sides of his state to try and find out who done it. At the end we find
out that he killed his daughter as he has schizophrenia and is sometimes unaware of
what he is doing. We believe this is conventional as it based around one character
with a psychological problem, another convention that we believe fits the criteria is
that there is a big plot twist as we find out that he was the one who actually his own
daughter.
6. Target audience
Our target audience is for both genders from researching into the genre we found out
that our target audience is slightly more female based as they were higher by 10 %.
The age range would be 18-32 as this is the age range that would watch a
psychological thriller one reason for this is that this genre of films are aged at an 18 or
over and another reason would be because the lot of the film would be relatable
towards their lifestyles which would make it more appealing.
The status of our target audience would be either students or workers as this is also
relatable to the audience.
The psychographic is that they like to listen to music and watch movies as the majority
of people in our age range participate in this regularly. As the age range is also of
young adults they will also enjoy going out with family and friends and socialising .
Our target audience would also be overly interested in interesting and more complex
storylines and as it is a about a character who has a mental illness it would appeal to
the target audience as they are fascinated with this kind of plot with lots of plot twists.
