Unit 14:Magazine Pitch
By Connor Crampton

 The magazine that I will be making a version of is the Empire
movie magazine, because it’ll be a good way to explain the
ways how movies have changed and how they could change
over the next few years.
 I will use different fonts to see which one fits better, and also
so that the articles have a different font on them to not be too
repetitive.
 The below fonts are some examples of ones that I might use
for my magazine, but I’m not sure yet. The format that I will
be using is print because it’ll be easier to do and I understand
Print versions of magazines much more.

Purpose
 The reason for making this magazine is to inform
people about the different ways that films have
changed over the years and how they could be in the
next few years.
Generatingan
idea(DPS +
FrontCover)
 The magazine that I will be making a version of is the
Empire movie magazine, because it’ll be a good way to
explain the ways how movies have changed and how
they could change over the next few years.
 I will use different fonts to see which one fits better,
and also so that the articles have a different font on
them to not be too repetitive.
TargetAudience
 To figure out the audience that my magazine will be
aimed at I would need to get people to fill out a
audience profile so that I can get a basic understanding
of how many people will be interested in reading my
magazine.
 After doing this audience profile I will also need to
make sure that my magazine is suitable for the
audience that I’m intending to be aiming it.
AudienceProfile
 Age: 16
 Gender: Male
 Employment: Student
 Social Grade: C2-D
 Psychographs: Explorer
 Hobbies + Interests: Gaming
Why would you buy it?
It has a lot of interesting features, and the article is a
really good read.
Suitability
 To make my magazine attract as many people as
possible, I will make sure that it is aimed at the
audience that I intend it to. This will involve taking
the correct measures and making sure that all of the
content is appropriate.
 I will also make sure that my magazine is suitable for
the genre that I will be using. This would be achieved
by picking a genre that most people read so that more
people will be reading it, however this could be a
disadvantage towards me because my magazine might
not stand out. So I would need to make mine stand out
to people walking past, so that they will read it.
Legal andEthical
considerations
 There are a few problems that could come with making
a magazine. One of them is not getting the rights to a
certain part or not being able to use something that
someone else owns.
 Another problem is that the owners of the work might
think that it has been plagarised. To get around this
issue I will try to use some images that will make
sense to use in a movie review magazine. For example,
I could use some pictures from movies so that it would
look authentic, however I would have to be careful
about what images I use.
Logging of
Primary and
Secondary
images
 When I was thinking of what other movie posters I
could use for a base idea, these included posters from
the movies I included in my article and have been
spread out throughout this PowerPoint.
 When logging the posters I searched on Google for
minimalist versions to see which ones would fit best as
a backdrop for my magazine front cover
Secondary
Images
 The following below images are ones that I will use some inspiration
from so that my front cover and DPS will look as authentic as possible.
 The Harry Potter magazine was found at the below link, while I found
the Inception magazine by googling Movie magazine ideas.
 The one that I most use for inspiration is the Harry Potter one because
of the way it’s set out having three movies listed on the bottom banner
while also having the dominant image be the main point.
research/)
PrimaryImages
 Below are some of the images that I’ll be using for my
magazine double-page spread, the reason why is
because I want there to be a bright and colourful
background when reading the article. (One of these
images will primarily be used on the double-page
spread).
 However the two pictures on either side won’t be used
because their backgrounds are too bright so it could be
distracting to the reader.
PrepareImages
 After choosing my images that I was going to use, I
then edited them in the Photoshop and then dragged
them onto InDesign.
 The type of tools that I used to edit these images were
free-transform to edit the size of the images.
 I also had a specific amount of images chosen
beforehand to see which ones would work the best. The
ones that did work have been used for the DPS and
front cover.
