A spill over relationship corporate governance and investorAlexander Decker
This document summarizes a study that investigated the relationship between corporate governance and investor reaction on the Karachi Stock Exchange from 2004-2013. The study used data from 114 manufacturing companies and measured corporate governance using factors like board independence, board size, ownership structure, and audit committee independence. It found a negative but insignificant correlation between corporate governance and investor reaction. Regression analyses also showed an insignificant relationship. The study concluded that corporate governance did not significantly impact investor reaction in the Pakistani context over the period studied.

The document discusses several studies that have shown mixed results on the relationship between labor unions and innovation. Some studies found unions have a negative effect by raising wages and allowing strikes, while others found positive effects from unions adapting technology and improving worker morale. The purpose of the proposed research is to investigate whether unions lead to increased productivity and reduced employee turnover by providing stability, and to consider how market competitiveness affects this relationship. Data will be collected through surveys in Pakistan and analyzed using statistical software to contribute new understanding of how unions can help firms achieve their objectives.
Cash Flow Activities and Stock Returns Evidence from Nigerian Consumer Goods ...ijtsrd
Proponents believe that increase in cash flows could potentially increase the stock returns of consumer goods firms quoted in Nigeria Stock Exchange while opponents argue and equally criticize that fact. Hence, this study examined the effects of cash flow on stock returns of consumer goods firms for a period of 2010 2019. The study was anchored on agency theory. Panel data were gotten from the Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE and the data collected were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed Cash flows from operating activities has no significant effect on stock returns of consumer goods firms in Nigeria, cash flow from investing activities does not have significant effect on the stock returns of consumer goods firms in Nigeria, Cash flows from financing activities has no significant effect on stock returns of consumer goods firms in Nigeria, Free cash flow has positive and significant effect on stock returns of consumer goods firms in Nigeria. On the basis of the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that there is need for consumer goods industry to improve on their operating cash flow by making money available for this purpose for the general benefit of the economy. The management should embark on effective intermediation drive which will provide deep source of fund for this industry. Government should adopt a viable policy that will enable this industry to expand their scope of business and firm size of this industry should be improved. The study also revealed that if free cash flow will be well managed, it will affect the stock returns policy of a firm positively. Ojimba, Francisca | Okegbe, T. O. | Ifurueze, M. S. 1) The paper presents a probability analysis of slope stability using the Monte Carlo simulation method to account for uncertainty in parameters like pore water pressure, cohesion, and internal angle of friction.
2) The results of the Monte Carlo simulation method are compared to other recognized methods of slope stability analysis like Bishop simplified, Fellenuis, Janbu simplified and corrected, Spencer and Lowe-Karafiath which use limit equilibrium.
3) The probability analysis finds that the failure probability is most affected by the standard deviation of pore water pressure, cohesion, internal angle of friction, and correlation coefficient between parameters, though individual limit equilibrium methods only account for one of these parameters in each analysis.
This document summarizes an abstract from the 9th International Scientific Conference on Applied Sciences and Engineering. The abstract discusses some biochemical markers that can predict pre-eclampsia. It states that tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) directly damages vascular endothelial cells and increases endothelial permeability, which may result in secretion of vasoactive substances and increased vascular permeability and coagulation. This involvement of TNF-α in the pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia means it may identify patients at high risk for the condition and serve as a marker of severity. Preeclamptic women also have abnormal lipid metabolism and profiles due to pre-eclampsia, and this alteration in lipid metabolism may play a key role in developing symptoms.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

Abstract
Although an increasing number of literature indicate the positive impact of sponsoring
major sports events or themed competitions, few studies have examined how a match-
fixing scandal occurring in the most popular and national professional sports impacts
the stock abnormal returns of the parent company and sponsor. Using event study
method with content analysis, this study focused on the spillover effect of incidents
involving sports ethics violations. Specifically, the impact of five match-fixing scandals
of Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) on the stock abnormal returns of
parent company and sponsor was examined. Secondary data collected from the data
base of CTMONEY was compared results of match-fixing scandals in the CPBL to
determine whether the match-fixing scandals could be regarded as a symbolic
message leading to diminish the average abnormal returns of the parent companies
and sponsors. The results showed that not all occurrences of CPBL match-fixing
scandals negatively impacted the abnormal returns of the parent companies and
sponsors. The findings can help professional sports operators and sponsors
understand the implications and spillover effects of negative professional baseball
incidents on stock returns.
