Unit Secretary Oct 2004 – Nov 2014
Experience
 Ten years ’experience as the Unit Secretary of an inpatient psychiatric facility and worked directly with
the charge nurse/ supervisor.
 Maintained an orderly office environment; prepared patient charts for admission and discharge; fax
placement packets; conform all HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations as required by the job,
department, or hospital. Various clerical and receptionist duties including answer and direct calls to
physicians, social work and nursing staff.
 Coordinate restocking supplies with the purchasing department and in charge of managing supplies and
equipment in a storage area;
 Track admissions and discharges for the unit. Check legal holds daily to ensure state requirements that
5150 and 5250 holds were up to date including the knowledge of LPS Conservatorships.
 Float between 2 adult units and all 4 units if needed in the hospital of a 61 bed capacity which is typically
full with a maximum 2 week stay for patients.
 Communicate with all departments of the hospital and assist Medical Records/ Health Information
Management with faxing discharges to follow up appointments.
 Assist with covering the front desk reception of the hospital as needed.
 Employee of the month September 2005 and April 2013.
