1. CHELSEY FLOYD
I am a smart, talented, self-driven woman who has plans to succeed in
everything I set my mind to.
2. MY FAVORITE ASSIGNMENTS AND
DISCUSSIONS
• DISCUSSION 1: HOW THE BRAIN WORKS:
WHAT WE PUT INTO OUR BODY AFFECTS HOW OUR BRAIN WORKS, THE THINGS WE DO AFFECT OUR BRAIN. HAVING AND MAINTAINING A GOOD DIET AND DRINKING
LOTS OF WATER IS A GREAT WAY TO KEEP OUT BRAIN HEALTHY AND ACTIVE. WE HAVE TO ALSO CHALLENGE OURSELVES WITH PUZZLES OR OTHER PUZZLE LIKE MATERIALS.
• METACOGNITION:
METACOGNITION IS THE AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF ONE’S OWN THOUGHT PROCESS. METACOGNITION CAN HELP US BECOME BETTER STUDENTS BECAUSE IT HELPS
US PROCESS AND USE OUR HIGHER THINKING ABILITIES TO GATHER INFORMATIONAND GAIN A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF CERTAIN THINGS.
• THE LATE PAPER CASE STUDY:
THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING WHEN ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE AND HAVING THEM TURNED IN ON TIME, WITH EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN ASKED FALLS SOLELY ON US AS
STUDENTS. BECOMING ADULTS MEANS WE HAVE TO LEARN TO TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY AND CONSEQUENCES OF EVERYTHING WE DO OR DO NOT COMPLETE. IT IS OUT
JOB TO REMEMBER WHEN THINGS ARE DO AND LEARN FROM THE THINGS WE CANNOT GET COMPLETED.
3. THREE OF MY FAVORITE JOURNALS
JOURNAL 7 – I LOVED THIS JOURNAL BECAUSE IT GAVE
ME A CHANCE TO REFLECT ON ALL THE SUPPORT I
TRULY HAVE. IT ALLOWED ME TO ACKNOWLEDGE MY
STRUGGLES WHILE MAKING ME SEE WHO MIGHT BE
THERE TO HELP OVERCOME THOSE STRUGGLES. IT
SHOWED ME THAT I AM NOT DOING THIS ALONE, I
HAVE A SUPPORT SYSTEM THAT IS THERE TO HELP ME
SUCCEED.
Journal 23 – I especially enjoyed the
personal dialog we had to create that
discussed the things that might keep us
from succeeding. It show me how to take
the negative/bad and make my thoughts
turn it positive. Being optimistic is so
important, finding the good in the bad and
saying I can do this no matter what. Its all in
how you perceive things.
Journal 13 – This had to be my absolute most favorite. This journal
showed me where I place my time and it shows what was important
then and what needs to be important. I was not only able to write things
down that I had done but I was able to put them on a chart to show what
should actually be important versus what I thought was important.
4. THE MODULE THAT I ENJOYED THE MOST
Week Three
Week three talks about taking ownership of things you failed to complete or things that
you did do that you should not have done. It shows us the importance of managing our
time and responsibilities. While we are taking classes, or working a job or trying to
manage children we are responsible for getting all of our tasks done on time. If we fail to
complete a task that we knew we had to complete well in advance, then we have to take
accountability for not getting the task finished.
We learned in this week about our inner critic and our inner guide. Our inner critic will
tell us that we cannot do it, that its because we are stupid or lazy, but our inner guide will
tell us that yes we may have messed up but will turned it into a positive and motivational.
We also learned about our inner defender, our inner defender tell us that it was someone
else fault, it does not allow us to take responsibility for our actions.
It is important that we listen to our inner guide to guide us through those difficult times.
5. LESSONS I WILL CARRY WITH ME:

• I CANNOT SIMPLY WANT TO PASS, I HAVE TO MAKE AN EFFORT AND USE THE BEST LEARNING
STRATEGIES LEARNED IN THIS CLASS
• PLAN AHEAD, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN
• STAY POSITIVE, JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING ISN’T IDEAL NOW DOESN’T MEAN IT WON’T HELP
YOU LATER
