Media: How are the following microelements used to construct meaning and induce a
newer response?

Explanation/analysis

Firstly in the aeroplane shot, the use of mise-en-scene, the skyline, conventionalises a
romantic atmosphere. Also a slow shot is used when Bruce and Betty are kissing; this
dramatises and enforces the audience to respond. Non-diegetic sound is used, a
combination of string and brass instruments increasing in pitch. These instruments are used
as they are stereotypical related to romantic storylines. A close up shot is used when Betty
and Bruce leave hands, again dramatising. Ultimately I believe the audience are more likely
to relate to Betty.

Secondly when Hulk is in the ground a slow zoom is used constructing anticipation Ingmar,
as the audience don’t know whether he is dead or alive. However when Hulk is about to
come out of the ground diegetic sound is used, heavy breathing, a slight roar and the sound
of Hulk punching the ground allowing the audience to feel relieved.

A sound bridge is used when Hulk comes out of the ground and roars which is then carried
on to the shot where abomination is in frame. Also shot reverse shot is used when both The
Hulk and Abomination coming towards each other at a fast pace, displaying aggressive
elements and intensifying the shot.

When The Hulk and the Abomination are running towards each
other and when they collide, the collide in slow motion
intensifying each fast and aggressive element, enforcing viewers
to react.

When Hulk smashes the ground a ground level shot is used, allowing us to look on this
through the Abominations eyes. Secondly when Hulk uses the metal chain, the metal chain
flies in the air this is shown with a worms eye view, capturing Abominations fear.

newer response?

Lastly a bird’s eye view is used at the end when Hulk roars and bangs his chest; this shot is
effective because it captures the Abominations head flop. Also when Hulk kicks the
abomination to the side, it shows power; the Abomination has lost his and The Hulk has
gained all power, displaying this meaning that good always wins in the end. Also the camera
reverses and cants across the people viewing the end to the battle, capturing their shocked
facial expression, this reflecting the facial expressions of viewers at home.
