2. Age:
The usual age for someone watching a horror movie is 18+. During young adulthood they are in the stage
of developing their emotions about new things. They want to rush into life without being guided and
therefore seek all thrill they can get. Horror movies give this thrill, and can excite a young audience as
oppose to an older one. The young audiences are also less susceptible to being put off the film by violence
or unnatural images which may make an older audience feel negative towards the film.
Groups of Audiences:
The audiences of horror movies are often groups of
friends however, there are key groups of audiences who
also watch horror films.
Couples who are either on a first date or have been
together for a while.
New friends
Family
To watch a horror movie with someone is very inviting it
allows them to see what your really like emotionally as
you cant hide your fears to them. It also makes a great
conversation starter.

3. Gender:
Males are more likely to watch horror movies than girls, this is due to the stereotypical thrill seeker which is
portrayed with a boy to seek a scare to contest with there young adult hormones. Violence is also a conventions
of horror movies which is often loved by males, from stereotypical portrays of boys a self fulfilling prophesy often
acts and they seek the thrill of violence, blood and gore. Horror films are therefore more attractive to boys as they
are after this thrill.

4. Class:
Overall horror films are aimed at working class community. This is due to the level of thrill and excitement which is gained
from a horror movie at a relatively cheap price. If the higher class watch horror films they are usually sub-genre like a mix
between romance or comedy. This is due to the higher level of satisfaction and the reaction of someone higher class
watching a gory ‘ inappropriate ‘ horror film such as saw.

5. My Personal Target Audience For Dark Decent:
My target Audience For Dark Decent would be Someone like Josh Wittercombe, He’s
19 years old and loves music and horror films. He listens to bands such as You me at
six and imagine dragons. He would watch horror movies with his mates regularly
usually at his house, including films such as ‘SAW’ and ‘THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT’ he
would mostly watch these films for the gore factor as he is a real thrill seeker. This is
shown by his talent of bmx’ing which he does most days. He also enjoys films which
include paranormal horror such as ‘PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’ as he believes in ghosts
and so it really makes him just when something bad happens sometimes more so than
the gory films “as they aren’t as realistic sometimes.”
