Cross-family advertising
Examples of how to create ads right from your business Page. special attention to getting the maximum amount of value out of the time and money you spend growing your business with Facebook.
FB promotions appear in the news feed.
The visual options will vary depending on the type of promotion
Your Instagram ads will appear in Instagram feeds along with images shared by their friends, family, and other Instagram accounts they follow.
You’re here because you’ve already created a Facebook Page to grow your business. Today we’ll talk about how to use promotions to start finding customers beyond your existing community.
Did you know, we have over 2 billion people using Facebook every month. To put that in context, two billion seconds ago, it was 1959
Facebook is a great place to build your business, reaching 2 billion people where they're already spending their time
The easiest way to start is to create an ad right from your Business Page
Let's say you're scrolling through your Page...and you see a post like this one, that's gotten a lot of engagement...that's a little under 200 people reacting to it.
You want to REACH MORE PEOPLE with this post...what you can do is click that big blue 'boost post' button, and you turn that post into an ad, seen by a lot more people.
This is a great way to help you reach people that don't already follow your business Page
The second way to create a promotion is click the blue promote button on your page
once you click it, you see a ton of different promotion types
Boost Post
Set up an ongoing promotion
Get more messages
and more...
what I want to highlight here...is that you can go beyond just getting more people seeing your Page posts...you can actually set a different goal
Hands up, how many people here have a website for their business?
And how many sell products directly from their website?
Of course you want to get more people to your website.
So you would choose 'get more website visitors', and from there, your promotion will adjust to help you achieve that goal.
And even though you’ll see an ad pre-populated in your promotion, you’ll have the option to edit your ad using this button right here.
You can edit the text in your ad, the images or video in your ad, you can add multiple images or videos, and you can preview what your ad will look like in the various places it will appear on this right side of the screen.
You can choose what you want to tell people to do when they see your ad.
This is called a “Call To Action.”
In this example, since we want to get folks to our website, we’ll choose “Shop Now.” You can see on the right how your ad auto-updates with the new Call To Action.
Give some thought to who you want to reach with your promotion.
You can reach new people to widen your circle of potential customers.
Or
You can reach people who are already familiar with your business to form deeper connections with them.
With Facebook, you’re not only reaching more people, you’re reaching more of the right people.
Facebook ads work because we’re able to deliver your ads to the people who are most likely to love what you do.
It's important to take some time to think about who you want to be reaching.
Do you want to reach brand new people...and widen your circle of potential customers?
Or do you want to reach people who are already familiar with your business to STRENGTHEN THAT RELATIONSHIP?
You're probably thinking, ‘I want to reach as many people as possible' ...but it's important to NOTE THAT YOU WILL HAVE THE BEST SUCCESS ON FB WHEN YOU SEND THE RIGHT MESSAGE TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE
[Add an example of a business that you have worked with/have experienced where targeting a message to the right group of people]
You can reach new people by creating a new audience.
> Name your new audience so that you can easily find and use it for future promotions.
> The options you can choose from are gender, age range, location, and interests.
A broad audience means reaching more people, but potentially not the right people. A really narrow audience could mean that it's going to cost more to reach those people. Again, it will depend on your business goal as to which you select.
a great tool...to help you understand if you're picking the right audience is the audience meter
if you were a shoe company....putting out a new running shoe for men ...
if you really wanted, you cold target all the people between 24 and 30 living in a specific town, who like running... Likewise, you could say that you wanted to target all the people living in X country between 18-50 who like sports....now that, that's gonna be the other end of the spectrum, too broad...not reaching the right people
Audience meter helps you find that balance
Reach people who are already familiar with your business.
There are several types of connections a person could have with your page (i.e., following it, liking it, commenting on it, etc.).
Let’s say you’re trying to get folks to buy tickets to an event you are hosting – consider targeting people familiar with your store and within your local area because they are the most likely to buy tickets.
As you think about your business goal, consider how long you want to run your ad, and how much money you’d like to spend on it.
You're in FULL control of how you want to manage your promotions and ads on Facebook.
With FB, you get full control of not only how much you want to spend but also, how long you want to run your ad for.
Facebook gives you pre-defined budgets and timing, but you can choose to customize these. Click the down arrow next to Daily Budget to see your spending options.
Since you’re fairly new to ads, why not start with a smaller amount and see how well you do; you can always increase your budget and the length of time to run the ad.
Next you choose how long you want your ad to run. Let’s run this ad for 14 days and budget $5.00 a day. Depending on the audience you chose earlier, the estimated clicks per day will be more or less than what you’re seeing in this example.
As you can see from the informational notes - the little italicized i next to a sentence -Facebook averages the amount you spend each day and estimates the number of people you’ll reach. At the end of the promotion, Facebook will provide you the results of the campaign.
Then, your promotion goes live!
you get a summary of exactly
what this promotion will do,
how much it costs, and
how long it'll run
highlighting that you're spending as you go
you're not going to have to commit to spending a certain amount right up front
you set your total budget for the ad and you pay as the promotion goes on
if you want to stop the promotion, you can do that, and you stop paying for it
One of the great things about growing your business on Facebook is how much insight you get into who is interacting with your brand.
Once you've created an ad, it's important to see how people react to it. the easiest way to do that is with Page Insights. Page Insights allow you to measure activity on your page, as well as a measure the performance of your ads.
Remember that Page Insights is only available on your Facebook business Page, not on your personal profile.
I’m not going to go over everything, although I suggest you do once your Page is up and running. But I want to touch on a few key sections to track.
You can see who you targeted, how long the promotion lasted, and your total budget. You also see the total number of people reached, the folks who clicked the call to action, and the total amount you actually spent.
To see your audience age ranges, gender, and countries, you can review the Actions, People, and Countries tabs. When you plan your next ad, you can use this information to better target your audience.
Use this information to refine your campaigns. See who your promotions are resonating with and use that information to make adjustments in the future.
Let’s review a few key takeaways.
