Audience Profiling

    Using C.R.A.G.S
Class
• Due to drama productions following a believable narrative because of unusual
twists on normal situations, we decided to aim our production at a middle-class
    audience.
• We chose a middle-class audience as the vast majority of the population is middle-
class, meaning that a larger amount of people would be able to understand the
    protagonist, who is middle-class
• Also, stereotypically, working-class people are less likely to visit the cinema
often, meaning they wouldn’t be interested in seeing our production, as it doesn’t
    appeal to them
• Upper-class people are stereotypically more intellectual then those in lower
classes, and due to our production being rated a 12, we have to cater to this lower
age group, meaning we cannot make our production too intellectual.
Race
• Our production is not based around race issues, and neither does it included race-
related narrative aspects, though we chose our protagonist to be white, as
stereotypically, a protagonist is usually white.
• In the UK, the percentage of white citizens is around 80%, meaning that more
people would be able to relate to a white protagonist, than a protagonist of a
    different ethnicity.
• Although a black protagonist may also be easy for everyone to relate to, we chose
a white protagonist due to the higher amount of white people living in the UK.
Age
• Due to the fast paced, modern aspects of the sci-fi genre, we aimed our product at
an audience mainly between the ages of 18 and 25.
• Although this is our target audience, we also catered for a younger audience by
not including too much violence or strong language. This helps to keep the
    audience as vast as possible.
• Older viewers may also be interested in our production as we included several
classic sci-fi elements in our production.
Gender
• We tried to make our production cater to both genres, due to both the sci-fi and
drama aspects of the production. This also helps keep the possible audience as
    vast as possible.
• The elements of Sci-fi are likely to appeal to a male audience as they contain
explosions and violence, which is stereotypically favored by male viewers. Also,
due to the protagonist being male, he may be easier for males to relate to
• The elements of Drama are likely to appeal to a female audience, as females
stereotypically acre more about emotions and the feelings of a character. Also, the
male protagonist may provide sex appeal for a female audience.
• This being said and ignoring stereotypes, either gender could be interested in
either genre, meaning the production is aimed at both genders.
Sexuality
• Our production is mainly aimed at a straight audience, with our protagonist being
male and having a partner of the opposite gender. This could help a straight
audience to relate to the protagonist more, as they are likely to have loved
someone, meaning seeing the protagonist lose a loved one may have a stronger
effect. Although the same can be said for a homosexual audience, the fact that the
partner is not of the gender they are interested in may have some effect on how
well they can sympathize for the protagonist.
• A male protagonist may provide some sex appeal for homosexual males, but other
than that, our production is aimed at a straight audience.
