Proposed demolition of Existing Building, 39-53 Cannon Street, LondonMcGee Group was appointed Principal Contractor to carryout demolition of the existing
building to basement slab and the installation of the associated substructure to support
the new building which will be named by the streets which it faces – 45 Cannon Street.
The building is a reinforced concrete framed structure comprising ground floor and
basement and between 7 and 9 upper levels.
The Site is located at 39 - 53 Cannon Street and lies within the London Borough of the
City of London. It is bordered by Cannon Street to the south, Bow Lane to the east
and Watling Court to the west. The Site lies within the Bow Lane Conservation Area.
The works were undertaken in a sensitive location in the busy City of London. Great
emphasis was placed on neighbourhood relations with the community, local council
and third parties.
The project was completed within programme, to the entire satisfaction of the client
and it’s professional team.
Main Scope of Works:
The works comprise, but are not limited to, the following main elements: -
• Execution of the pre-demolition services agreement
• Enabling works – scaffold, hoarding, protection, street furniture removal/relocation
• Decommisioning of existing utilities and capping outside of the site boundary
• Enabling works for retained supplies and services
• Demolition & Weathering including salvage works
• Substructure Construction
• Load away arisings/processing
