My name is Greg Southorn. I am a Carpenter with Advanced Trade Qualifications. I am a
Licenced Building Practitioner and have a Supervisor Gold Card Accreditation from Site Safety NZ
Ltd. I have also just completed an Elevated Work Platform course. I have over 35 years
experience in the Construction Industry from carpentry level through to Foreman and Project
Manager on both domestic and commercial projects.
I have been employed in Wellington since 2012 as a Site Manager on Projects including the rebuild
of the iconic Backbencher Gastropub. I have also been involved in Earthquake Strengthening of
multi storied buildings in the Wellington region. I recently managed the site demolition of two‘Z’
Service Stations, one in Inglewood and most recently in Palmerston North. After demolition, the
work involved included decontamination of the site and a total new build of these business premises
from the ground up.
Prior to 2012 I worked for Tom Conor Construction as Site Manager building a new Water
Reservoir at Patea. This entailed using tilt slab construction for the Reservoir and the simultaneous
construction of a Water Treatment Plant.
