McGee Group Ltd were appointed Principal Contractor for the
demolition of an existing 18 storey building at 1 New Street Square.
This project consisted of the asbestos removal, soft strip, demolition
and pile enabling work for 1 New Street Square, London EC4. The
site to be demolished comprised the International Press Centre and
the Merchant Centre currently known as 75-76 Shoe Lane.
Each building was concrete framed, with in situ concrete waffle or
troughed slabs. Lateral stability was provided by shear walls located
in cores and the structures are linked by a common basement.
The structures were supported on piled foundation and existing
cladding and external skeleton of the superstructures comprised of
loadbearing precast concrete mullions.

relationship, Project Team management and delegation, contractual administration, program delivery, financial
control, resource and task scheduling, RA and MS quality, implementation & monitoring, quality & inspection
control, sub-contractor governance and daily on-site project management team.
