She is Sophie Amundsen.
She is 14-year-old
Norwegian girl. She is
protagonist of the novel.
She is very curious about
the different mysterious
things around her.
She has lots of
philosophical question.
She is Jonna,
Sophie’s best
friend. She doesn’t
think in the same
way that Sophie
does.
She is Sophie’s mom.
She is a funnier
character. She provides
a hard work for Sophie’s
philosophical
adventures and thought
that her daughter is
losing her sense.
SUMMARY
 Sophie got the strange letter contain three pages by
the unknown sender while returning from her
school.
 the letter is about philosophy.
 She doesn’t tell anyone about the letters.
Again she gets another letter describing philosophy.
The letter suggests that what is most important in
life is philosophizing-attempting to understand
ourselves.
There are not many philosophical questions, but
these questions have many ways to answer each one.
After reading that letter she goes back to the
mailbox and finds yet another one.
 The letter stresses the fact that all that is required to
be a philosopher is the capacity to wonder.
 The writer of the letters never wants Sophie to lose
her sense of wonder.
 Sophie then attempts to discuss about the topic
philosophy with her mother
 but it only leads her to question whether of not
Sophie has been doing drugs.
