Q4 who would be the audiende for your media product
1.
2. I found that the typical age for thrillers and crime
thrillers were 15+, aiming at mature young adults
due to the psychological storyline and contain
violence.
I set my target audience for my film from ages 15-
25. The certificates for thrillers are usually 15+
which is where my target audience starts. I thought
the age gap would be big as my film could be enjoy
by many ages, as it includes young actors to attract
a young audience. It would also appeal to mature
young people, as it contains twisted murder.
3. My film is aimed at both genders, because it contains
suspense and excitement which both would find
interesting. The main characters are both females,
stereotypically this would appeal to males watching, but
also women watching would automatically appeal to
them.
The crime thriller storyline would attract a wider male
audience as they typically appeal to murders and action
more than women.
It would leave you asking questions with the ending, for
example what was written on the piece of paper? How
did Sophie who got murdered come back to get her
revnege? This would attract an audience who are
interested in psychological thrillers, as they would
wanting to figure out the film themselves to get
involved. From my research I found this would attract an
older audience, not just young audience making it a
wide age target age gap.
4. My film has aspects of traditional thriller
conventions which would appeal to the audience
who are big thriller fans, especially I they like
Alfred Hitchcock films like ‘Shadow of a doubt’,
‘Suspicion’, or newer films like ‘Shutter Island’ and
‘Gone Girl.
5. I attracted my audience by creating a twisted storyline of
taking revenge too far, its different to other films as its
unusual for thrillers to be set in a science room.
It will appeal to both genders, typically males will like the
storyline, girls will too much but it has girls as the main
character it can appeal to them, so they don’t think it would
be boring as its set in a science background.
It would appeal to people interested in different genres, like
sci-fi and horror, my film contains elements of this. For
example, its based around scientists, and the setting I feel is
quite eerie, especially the end scene in the corridor which I
took inspiration from horrors.
