Evaluation Question 5
1. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/
ADDRESS YOUR
AUDIENCE?
Question 5
By Charlotte Dyer
2. To attract my audience I used the stereotypical
objects which are commonly seen in existing
horror films like blood, gore and dead people as
well as the use of eerie music on top of the title
sequence.
I also had the use of alcohol and mental instability
in my title sequence to attract my audience as well
as give them a glimpse for as to what may
foreshadow in the film and make them want to
continue to watch the film.
3. My title sequence begins off with my protagonist
on the swing staring sinserterly past the camera
and into the distance. With this being in a public
park it would make the audience wonder who or
what she is looking at making them want to watch
on to see if they are going to find out.
4. The use of the empty swing swinging on its own
will make the audience question further for as to
why the swing is swinging by itself and by not
having any audio in the title sequence the
audience don’t yet understand why it is happening
making them want to continue to watch on.
5. The cut from the park to the clock gives the
audience an idea of the change of time but at this
point they have no idea whether it is before or after
the previous scene.
6. When the audience is shown the main character
getting up from her bed the audience will notice
the arm of a dead body under her bed this will
make the audience wonder why there is one under
her bed and what was her motive in killing that
person.
7. The audience is then taken to the hall where there
is quite clearly a lot of drugs and alcohol around
making them wonder why she is like this and what
else can she do making them interested into what
is going to happen further on.
8. Soon after the audience is then shown the
bathroom door from the inside where the
protagonist walks through towards the sink. During
this the audience is shown another dead body
laying in the bath which is covered with blood this
makes the audience wonder how many people has
she killed and are in the house and the question
why she is killing these people is still running
through their heads.
9. The audience is also shown later in the title
sequence the main protagonist dropping a
bloodied knife with yet another dead body in the
grounds of the park where the audience was
originally at during the very beginning of the title
sequence, suggesting to them that the time has
again changed back to before when she was
staring out into the distance, making the audience
wonder if the person she has killed was the person
who she was watching from afar.
10. The audience is left off with the camera zooming in
on the protagonists new victim, this is where the
title of the film is shown which is again in a blood
red colour but in less of a bold colour, this could
make the audience why the protagonist had
decided to kill her and what her morale was for
doing so.
