For my ancillary tasks my partner and I produced a poster and magazine to promote our trailer to make it appear

as this type of film may not appeal to them but by displaying an a list

surnames of the actors/actresses in bold and a larger sized font
because they are more recognisable when identifying a actor or
actress.

6. Personally, I would consider that my ancillary tasks (poster and
magazine) and main product (trailer) are effective as the ancillary tasks
have been produced and designed at a very high standard therefore,
successfully promote the trailer to appear professional within media.
Within each product, they have certain aspects that are displayed
differently or the same in each other’s products showing similarity and
effectiveness in regard to promotion and linking all together.
The genre of my trailer is clearly identified due to its title ‘Tug of Love’ this suggests it is a
drama, the definition of tug of love is a conflict of custody between those who act or are
parents of a child, this refers to a drama as the storyline is usual very realistic in terms of
modern society. The main phrase within the definition is ‘a conflict of custody’ it is used as
the tagline of the poster and is also used as a caption within the trailer expressing the link
between them, also promoting the fact that it is a drama, therefore shows the consistency
between the poster and trailer proving its effectiveness.
7. The title of tug of love is shown on all three products, in the poster and trailer (at end of the trailer-titles)
the typography is the same (handwriting font) therefore showing how effective the poster is in relation to
promoting the trailer, In the magazine the font is completely different in comparison to the combination of
the poster and trailer however, to show how it is effective and links in with the other ancillary task and
main product is that it has a blue lens flare used behind the title of the trailer, this is effective as in the
trailer a lens flare is also used, in the studio ident. Expressing that both the magazine and poster
promote the trailer through linking certain aspects together to show consistency (lens flare and style of
font) effectively.
The Colour scheme within my two ancillary tasks is black, white and red this shows brand identity amongst
the two allowing the advertisement to be very successful in promoting the trailer. These three specific
colours promote aspects of the film; the white resembles the innocent child being taken due to a feud
between parents, the red resembles the mothers love for her son and the anger she has due to her son
being taken from her and the black resembles the father as his wickedness is shown through disguising
himself in dark colours and behind bushes.
A certain prop used in both ancillary tasks and the main product is the teddy bear, within the trailer the
prop is used as the boy’s toy which he takes to the park, on the poster the teddy is left stranded in the
middle of a path located in a park and on the magazine front cover the teddy is in the hands of the mother
clutching onto it. This was effective as it shows that each product relates to one another though using the
same prop each time for each task, showing a consistency throughout.
8. Overall, I believe that Nicola and I have produced very effective
ancillary tasks as they both relate to each other with regard to
promoting the same trailer. The trailer has also been associated
with each ancillary task as well as been promoted through a
consistency of themes. Through editing all three of our products
I feel we have succeeded in producing equal high standards
throughout, resulting in each of the tasks resembling a
professional look in regard to advertising.
