Legalizing Marijuana Persuasive Essay
For the past fifty years, the public has been fed incorrect information about marijuana's risks by law enforcement and anti–drug groups. Time has
changed, because Colorado and Washington State became the first states to legalize recreational marijuana, this has arose the possibility of a rippling
effect across the nation. Now, many states such as Oregon and Alaska are voting on this issue. Although medical researchers have claimed that
marijuana may help patients and the drug is not as dangerous as informers noted before, legalizing the drug will create a downfall to society by
expanding its accessibility to our future generation. Not only will expose our youth to more harmful drugs, but it will also endanger the safety of our
community. In the article "For Marijuana, a Second Wave of Votes to Legalize," Kirk Johnson displays his personal opinion when he said, "scruffy
hipsters with clipboards buttonholed passers–by" were urging the registered voters in Oregon to vote yes on Measure 91, which legalizes the
recreational use of marijuana. Johnson says this inferring that the main supporters of pro–marijuana are "scruffy hipsters." Nonetheless, this is not the
case. Billionaire investor George Soros is backing the organization, Drug...show more content...
One of the main reasons for legalizing marijuana is because it is not "dangerous," therefore it should be legalized so that people aren't being sent to
prison for it. This notion branches off the issue that overcrowding prisons is causing a financial crisis in our law enforcement budgets. People
addicted to drugs can be a danger to our society and should not be free to roam around the community simply because they are not as dangerous as
those that need to be in

Within our nation, there are plenty of political issues that require much needed attention. However, the legalizing of marijuana is becoming more and
more of the topic of debate amongst a large number of today's society. There are various arguments on the issue but in analyzing the situation one must
ask "has anyone really established legitimate researches on how marijuana could help someone?" That being said, our group has ventured out to
solidify the positive claims about marijuana as well as guide various minds on how much it could help other human beings with numerous medical
illnesses and diseases. To begin we must establish what is marijuana as well as how marijuana effects the human body. Marijuana is a plant that

From the early 1900's, this substance has, at times been associated with of violence and forms of psychosis. During this time, numerous states began to
outlaw the usage and distribution of marijuana. The Prohibition made marijuana a popular alternative to alcohol since there were no laws against it.
Harry Jacob Anslinger, first Commissioner of the US Bureau of Narcotics, began the war on marijuana vilifying it and even considered it to be heroin's
equal (Rehmus, E.). Throughout history marijuana has been utilized, mostly for medicine. By 1937 it was outlawed nationally by the Marihuana Tax
Act of 1937 (When and why was marijuana outlawed?). Today, Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. have all legalized
medical and recreational marijuana. Additionally, there are also twenty other states that have made medical marijuana legal. Furthermore. about fifteen
states are trying to pass laws in which marijuana would be decriminalized (DeMaria, M.). In our opinion, another aspect we would also like to point
out is the concept of lessening the overcrowded prison system. Just think how many first time offenders could be exonerated if marijuana was deemed

Close your eyes and imagine for a moment. You now have a child who suffers from extreme, almost constant, terrifying seizures. Unfortunately, none
of the medicine prescribed in the past has worked. In fact, some medication even makes the seizures worse. Suddenly, doctors discover a medicine
that has the potential to reduce seizures and sometimes stop them all together, therefore improving your child's quality of life. They have turned that
medicine into safe drops, vapor, and pills. Would you want to at least give the medicine a try? Would you want to give your child some relief? If you
answered yes, then you have just proven that it is not the medicine that people feel uneasy about, it is the stigma of the name of plant the medicine
comes from, marijuana.

Have they truly forgotten about morphine and its origins? Morphine is, essentially, heroin, but we still allow its active use in hospitals all around the
country. What about oxycodone, and other pain meds? You can get addicted to those, right? They can get you high just like any other drug you may
find on the street. We know all of this, but that does not stop us from allowing someone access to them when they are in need of them. Why should it
be different with cannabis?
Because of how so many of us look at medical marijuana, we make it really hard for families who need access to these medicines. Time and time
again, family after family will have to give up everything they have so they can move to a state that allows them access to the medicine their children
could not survive without. Veterans who come back broken from the wars are given prescription after prescription that turns them into zombies instead

Legalizing Marijuana
Marijuana is a plant which has been used by our ancestors for medication and recreation. Marijuana refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds
from the hemp plant, also known as 'Cannabis sativa'. The general effects of marijuana has short term and long term effects. Short term effects like
change in mood, impaired body movements, difficulty in thinking, memory, etc. Whereas, long term effects consists effects like addiction, depression,
anxiety, suicidal thoughts, breathing problem, etc. (Drug 2015) Legalizing marijuana has been a big question among our generation now. It has several
benefits. Despite the good facts about marijuana, people are still pointing out the negative impacts of it. Legalizing it has been a big debate among
people. The legalization of marijuana in the United States would drastically reduce crime in our cities and form a more productive society through its
positive uses.
Once something is illegal that doesn't means it's dangerous. It is the people who make myths that using marijuana will eventually lead to a higher drug
use like cocaine, heroin, etc. Many...show more content...
Despite the benefits of the plants people are trying to make it illegal. They should understand the use of the marijuana in detail first so that they can
use it in a right way. It has very less health effects. In my opinion legalizing marijuana would help to increase the economy of a country. Government
can impose tax on the legal marijuana and earn money. Many products from hemp can be produced and sold in the market. Legalizing marijuana will
reduce crimes related to illegal marijuana trafficking. I agree that misusing any substance will not produce good results. So, if we set an age limit and
quantity restrictions then legalizing marijuana will be very

Cannabis, better known as marijuana, is an illicit drug that is commonly used in America today. There are a few different ways to use marijuana, but
most people choose to smoke the "dried leaves, flowers, stems, or seeds of the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant." (NIDA) Whichever way the
user decides to consume marijuana is their choice, but the harmful effects of marijuana are the same. The question "Should marijuana be legal" is
controversial in society today and surprisingly twenty–nine states have made it legal for doctors to recommend marijuana for conditions like AIDS,
cancer, seizures, hepatitis C, and even just pain in general.
Advocates of marijuana legalization will easily tell you that there are a vast number of benefits, physically and mentally, from the use of marijuana.
They say it treats "chronic pain, muscle spasticity, chemotherapy–induced nausea and vomiting, PTSD, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, epilepsy,
etc." (Mantel) However, they often overlook the negative side effects of using marijuana and...show more content...
According to the Committee of the independent National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine "there is substantial evidence that cannabis
or cannabinoids are effective in treating chronic pain, muscle spasticity, and chemotherapy–induced nausea and vomiting."(Mantel) It does not take a
very educated person to notice that this is less than half of what the so called "benefits" of marijuana are supposed to be. Some states have approved
marijuana for treating conditions like PTSD, anxiety, and irritable bowel syndrome, but sufficient evidence to prove that marijuana is an effective
treatment for these conditions does not exist. (Mantel) Marijuana, medical or recreational, should not be legalized because it has many negative side
effects as it can become addictive, it affects the user mentally, and it affects the user

Marijuana is a drug with many purposes, known under many names, and legal in a few states. Should recreational use Marijuana be legalized?
Marijuana has had its battle with the states, the people and politics, it has been an argument for years. Over the past few years, It has been
legalized in a few states for medical use only. The battle has not ended as it continues to fight for its federal rights. Even, if you have a medical

It actually helps some people with anxiety disorders and helps them be more social. The most serious risk that most users ever face is anxiety, which
can be triggered by stress or fatigue and by higher–potency strains of marijuana. Such reactions also tend to be more common among infrequent and
inexperienced users. Some people do become addicted. Addiction is common in the United States, people become addicted to almost anything. From
coffee, soda, gum, to gambling and of course alcohol and other drugs. Adding Marijuana to the list won't make a difference. There are many
reasons why Marijuana should be legal. Medicinal use is a great part of why it should be legal but there is more to that. It will also help social
behavior, a revenue boost for being a multibillion dollar industry and for safety control. If we want to make America a better place to live, we
need to stop accusing the people with the small amounts of marijuana or the people smoking one joint. We need to legalize recreational use on
Marijuana to stop organized crime once and for all. We as Americans should be trying to make this a better place to live by concentrating on the real
violent crimes. All these things we see about cops abusing their power on powerless people is sad. We should have the freedom and the rights to

Marijuana has become a hot topic in today's society, and people on both sides of whether or not it should be legal, often feel strongly about their view.
Medical marijuana has stolen the spotlight away from recreational marijuana in recent months, mostly since the advocates for this medicine are those
who are at the end of the line when it comes to treatment options or those who are left to advocate for family members who can't speak for
themselves. Though patients who have used medical marijuana have claimed great success and relief of their pain and symptoms, little is known about

treatment leave patients with a bigger list of complications in years to come? Unfortunately, there really is no way of knowing until we get to that

Advantages of Legalizing Marijuana
Marijuana use is on the rise, especially among teenagers and young adults. With the recent laws passed in eight states about legalizing medical
marijuana , many stand divided when it comes to this never ending debate, but I firmly believe that this miracle working drug should be legalized
throughout the United States. Marijuana is by far the most commonly used illegal drug. Statistics show that over 70 million Americans have tried

The main idea behind legalizing drugs is it's medical advantages. Marijuana is said to have many uses as healing drug. Marijuana being used as
medicine has been studied for many years. In many cultures it is used as medicine and stems back many generations. The first recorded use of
marijuana as medicine was in China. It has been said that in Pen Tsao Ching during the first or second century, boiled hemp compound was used as an
anesthetic for surgical patients. The compound is said to have many uses including, clearing the blood, cooling temperature, clearing fluxes, undoing
rheumatism and discharging pus from patients. China isn't the only country to use this drug in early times it was introduced in Southeast Asia in the
sixteenth century. Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam are said to have current uses of marijuana for medicine. In Cambodia they have an enormous list
of uses, including, treating malaria, reliving asthma, calming the nerves, regulating the heart and treating paralysis. In Thailand, it's used in folk
medicine as well as in the official medical reports. In folk medicine, people dry the leaves and then boil them to treat migraines and dizzy spells.
Marijuana has survived the passing of time and still helps the sick today. The advanced stages of treatment for patients with Cancer, AIDS and other

The plant marijuana has caused quite a problem in the US for the past few years. The debate on whether the drug should be legalized has split the
nation in two. Some argue that the drug only has negative effects; people under its influence are unable to think rationally and act out in dangerous
ways, severing ties with their family and potentially losing their jobs. Others argue that while this can be true, more studies should be conducted to
learn about marijuana, because past tests have uncovered marijuana has medicinal benefits. It has seemed that the majority of Americans are against
anything related to the drug, but as of January 5, 2018, approximately 61% were in favor of legalizing it completely. And that's not counting the poll

Epilepsy, migraines, memory loss, MS, and arthritis are just to name a few. The main chemicals contained in the plant (THC and CBD) alter how
the nerves function, providing relieve from these ailments. Marijuana also helps people with depression. When endocannabinoids (a chemical in
the brain) are low, causing depression, they can be replaced with the cannabinoids found in marijuana. With further research, marijuana may
reverse the effects of smoking tobacco. Tobacco fills the lungs with toxic chemicals. Smoking marijuana has no bad effect on the lungs, in fact it
may increase lung capacity. In proper doses, it can even be a better alternative to smoking. The drug will combat the urge to smoke tobacco
because the user will instead smoke marijuana. Marijuana is only addictive in high doses, and researchers believe smoking it will get tobacco
smokers to end their addiction in an easy and relatively consequence free way. Furthermore, marijuana can possibly lead us to a cure to cancer.
Studies on cancer cells in labs have shown that it reduces spreading of cancer cells. Studies on cancer cells in animals have also had this result.
Marijuana has also shrunk cancer cells and even killed them in these studies. If not a cure for cancer, marijuana still decreases pain from

The Detroit Free Press Editorial Board's Article Let the people decide about legalizing marijuana(2016) was an attempt to convince readers that
Michigan Legislature is currently a "dysfunctional waste," determined to keep Marijuana legalization off the ballots. The Press got their opinion across
by using uncredited polls, tugging at the reader's emotions when describing both parties, and overall biased tone with underlying motives. The author
uses pathos, ethos, and logos very effectively when trying to persuade the reader. Pathos is being used when the author attempts to appeal to our
emotions while trying to pity MILegalize. Logos is being used when the authors tries to connect with our common sense in order to persuade by reason.
Lastly ethos is being used when the author attempts to sway our opinion of michigan legislature, but altering our view of their character and
morals. This article was written with intentions to get voters riled up, discredit the michigan legislature and provoke change within the court systems.
The Editorial Board only presented their side of the argument, concluding they are targeting left–wing moderates that are for the legalization of

to the letter of the law. But the courts seem determined, so far, to keep them off the ballot here in Michigan." The articles says MIlegalize followed the
rules, however

Although marijuana is illegal, people continue to grow and market it. Often times throughout this illegal exchange process people put dangerous

Legalizing marijuana for health and municipal purposes in the United States Of America, personally I think it's a great idea. A lot of other people don't
think legalizing marijuana is the greatest idea in the world, they think that people will use it in the wrong ways and not to help with any diseases that it
can kill. Legalizing marijuana in the United States should be done because it can help people with diseases that they can't fix with just any medicine, it
can kill most deadly diseases, and it keeps people from taking multiple pills a day.
Marijuana is a very powerful drug, eighty percent of the United States of America allows the use of marijuana for health and municipal purposes.
Some of the people that use marijuana for health purposes will also use it just for fun and to get a good buzz, which is wrong but there is nothing
we can do about it, unless we arrest them and post bail. The only thing the government could do is completely take it away for health and municipal
purposes. That would leave thousands of people in pain and thousands of people would die just because people don't think it's a safe drug to use.
They also think that if one person uses it then it could hurt or affect others. That is true but when it's used respectfully and responsibly I don't think it
would hurt anyone. The use of marijuana can help soldiers that have been to war and have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, I personally know a man

In the 1900's, Mexican Americans started bringing Marijuana into the country, and implemented a new culture into the American Culture. Marijuana

The short term effect is the obvious "high" that people feel after inhaling the THC from the plant. The long term effects are not as minimal in terms of

Legalizing Marijuana Debate: Persuasive Essay on Benefits and Risks

  • 1. Legalizing Marijuana Persuasive Essay For the past fifty years, the public has been fed incorrect information about marijuana's risks by law enforcement and anti–drug groups. Time has changed, because Colorado and Washington State became the first states to legalize recreational marijuana, this has arose the possibility of a rippling effect across the nation. Now, many states such as Oregon and Alaska are voting on this issue. Although medical researchers have claimed that marijuana may help patients and the drug is not as dangerous as informers noted before, legalizing the drug will create a downfall to society by expanding its accessibility to our future generation. Not only will expose our youth to more harmful drugs, but it will also endanger the safety of our community. In the article "For Marijuana, a Second Wave of Votes to Legalize," Kirk Johnson displays his personal opinion when he said, "scruffy hipsters with clipboards buttonholed passers–by" were urging the registered voters in Oregon to vote yes on Measure 91, which legalizes the recreational use of marijuana. Johnson says this inferring that the main supporters of pro–marijuana are "scruffy hipsters." Nonetheless, this is not the case. Billionaire investor George Soros is backing the organization, Drug...show more content... One of the main reasons for legalizing marijuana is because it is not "dangerous," therefore it should be legalized so that people aren't being sent to prison for it. This notion branches off the issue that overcrowding prisons is causing a financial crisis in our law enforcement budgets. People addicted to drugs can be a danger to our society and should not be free to roam around the community simply because they are not as dangerous as those that need to be in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Within our nation, there are plenty of political issues that require much needed attention. However, the legalizing of marijuana is becoming more and more of the topic of debate amongst a large number of today's society. There are various arguments on the issue but in analyzing the situation one must ask "has anyone really established legitimate researches on how marijuana could help someone?" That being said, our group has ventured out to solidify the positive claims about marijuana as well as guide various minds on how much it could help other human beings with numerous medical illnesses and diseases. To begin we must establish what is marijuana as well as how marijuana effects the human body. Marijuana is a plant that contains several...show more content... From the early 1900's, this substance has, at times been associated with of violence and forms of psychosis. During this time, numerous states began to outlaw the usage and distribution of marijuana. The Prohibition made marijuana a popular alternative to alcohol since there were no laws against it. Harry Jacob Anslinger, first Commissioner of the US Bureau of Narcotics, began the war on marijuana vilifying it and even considered it to be heroin's equal (Rehmus, E.). Throughout history marijuana has been utilized, mostly for medicine. By 1937 it was outlawed nationally by the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 (When and why was marijuana outlawed?). Today, Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. have all legalized medical and recreational marijuana. Additionally, there are also twenty other states that have made medical marijuana legal. Furthermore. about fifteen states are trying to pass laws in which marijuana would be decriminalized (DeMaria, M.). In our opinion, another aspect we would also like to point out is the concept of lessening the overcrowded prison system. Just think how many first time offenders could be exonerated if marijuana was deemed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Legalization Of Marijuana Persuasive Speech Close your eyes and imagine for a moment. You now have a child who suffers from extreme, almost constant, terrifying seizures. Unfortunately, none of the medicine prescribed in the past has worked. In fact, some medication even makes the seizures worse. Suddenly, doctors discover a medicine that has the potential to reduce seizures and sometimes stop them all together, therefore improving your child's quality of life. They have turned that medicine into safe drops, vapor, and pills. Would you want to at least give the medicine a try? Would you want to give your child some relief? If you answered yes, then you have just proven that it is not the medicine that people feel uneasy about, it is the stigma of the name of plant the medicine comes from, marijuana. Marijuana has been around for a very long time and while it used to be treated as a medicine for...show more content... Have they truly forgotten about morphine and its origins? Morphine is, essentially, heroin, but we still allow its active use in hospitals all around the country. What about oxycodone, and other pain meds? You can get addicted to those, right? They can get you high just like any other drug you may find on the street. We know all of this, but that does not stop us from allowing someone access to them when they are in need of them. Why should it be different with cannabis? Because of how so many of us look at medical marijuana, we make it really hard for families who need access to these medicines. Time and time again, family after family will have to give up everything they have so they can move to a state that allows them access to the medicine their children could not survive without. Veterans who come back broken from the wars are given prescription after prescription that turns them into zombies instead of something, that actually is known to treat anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms, all because it comes from a plant some people have a negative opinion Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Nayan Awale Mrs. Allen Dawn Composition I 13th November 2015 Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana is a plant which has been used by our ancestors for medication and recreation. Marijuana refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant, also known as 'Cannabis sativa'. The general effects of marijuana has short term and long term effects. Short term effects like change in mood, impaired body movements, difficulty in thinking, memory, etc. Whereas, long term effects consists effects like addiction, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, breathing problem, etc. (Drug 2015) Legalizing marijuana has been a big question among our generation now. It has several benefits. Despite the good facts about marijuana, people are still pointing out the negative impacts of it. Legalizing it has been a big debate among people. The legalization of marijuana in the United States would drastically reduce crime in our cities and form a more productive society through its positive uses. Once something is illegal that doesn't means it's dangerous. It is the people who make myths that using marijuana will eventually lead to a higher drug use like cocaine, heroin, etc. Many...show more content... Despite the benefits of the plants people are trying to make it illegal. They should understand the use of the marijuana in detail first so that they can use it in a right way. It has very less health effects. In my opinion legalizing marijuana would help to increase the economy of a country. Government can impose tax on the legal marijuana and earn money. Many products from hemp can be produced and sold in the market. Legalizing marijuana will reduce crimes related to illegal marijuana trafficking. I agree that misusing any substance will not produce good results. So, if we set an age limit and quantity restrictions then legalizing marijuana will be very Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Cannabis, better known as marijuana, is an illicit drug that is commonly used in America today. There are a few different ways to use marijuana, but most people choose to smoke the "dried leaves, flowers, stems, or seeds of the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant." (NIDA) Whichever way the user decides to consume marijuana is their choice, but the harmful effects of marijuana are the same. The question "Should marijuana be legal" is controversial in society today and surprisingly twenty–nine states have made it legal for doctors to recommend marijuana for conditions like AIDS, cancer, seizures, hepatitis C, and even just pain in general. Advocates of marijuana legalization will easily tell you that there are a vast number of benefits, physically and mentally, from the use of marijuana. They say it treats "chronic pain, muscle spasticity, chemotherapy–induced nausea and vomiting, PTSD, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, epilepsy, etc." (Mantel) However, they often overlook the negative side effects of using marijuana and...show more content... According to the Committee of the independent National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine "there is substantial evidence that cannabis or cannabinoids are effective in treating chronic pain, muscle spasticity, and chemotherapy–induced nausea and vomiting."(Mantel) It does not take a very educated person to notice that this is less than half of what the so called "benefits" of marijuana are supposed to be. Some states have approved marijuana for treating conditions like PTSD, anxiety, and irritable bowel syndrome, but sufficient evidence to prove that marijuana is an effective treatment for these conditions does not exist. (Mantel) Marijuana, medical or recreational, should not be legalized because it has many negative side effects as it can become addictive, it affects the user mentally, and it affects the user Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana is a drug with many purposes, known under many names, and legal in a few states. Should recreational use Marijuana be legalized? Marijuana has had its battle with the states, the people and politics, it has been an argument for years. Over the past few years, It has been legalized in a few states for medical use only. The battle has not ended as it continues to fight for its federal rights. Even, if you have a medical recommendation letter or card, you can still be federally charged for possession of marijuana. The legalization of marijuana is supported by those who believe it will bring our Country out of debt and that it will put a stop to organized crimes. Those who opposed argue that Marijuana will take this country to...show more content... It actually helps some people with anxiety disorders and helps them be more social. The most serious risk that most users ever face is anxiety, which can be triggered by stress or fatigue and by higher–potency strains of marijuana. Such reactions also tend to be more common among infrequent and inexperienced users. Some people do become addicted. Addiction is common in the United States, people become addicted to almost anything. From coffee, soda, gum, to gambling and of course alcohol and other drugs. Adding Marijuana to the list won't make a difference. There are many reasons why Marijuana should be legal. Medicinal use is a great part of why it should be legal but there is more to that. It will also help social behavior, a revenue boost for being a multibillion dollar industry and for safety control. If we want to make America a better place to live, we need to stop accusing the people with the small amounts of marijuana or the people smoking one joint. We need to legalize recreational use on Marijuana to stop organized crime once and for all. We as Americans should be trying to make this a better place to live by concentrating on the real violent crimes. All these things we see about cops abusing their power on powerless people is sad. We should have the freedom and the rights to smoke recreational weed, if we feel like Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana has become a hot topic in today's society, and people on both sides of whether or not it should be legal, often feel strongly about their view. Medical marijuana has stolen the spotlight away from recreational marijuana in recent months, mostly since the advocates for this medicine are those who are at the end of the line when it comes to treatment options or those who are left to advocate for family members who can't speak for themselves. Though patients who have used medical marijuana have claimed great success and relief of their pain and symptoms, little is known about the long term effect it can have on an individual. For most of these patients, the benefits long outweigh the concerns of potential side effects and for ...show more content... From multiple sclerosis to autism to cancer to epilepsy, the list of conditions it can treat grows regularly. Though the patients who have used medical marijuana are big proponents for the medicine, there is little known about how the medication can effect the body long term. Little–to–no extensive studies have been done to provide this information, and patients are blindly putting their hopes and faith into this medication. Will this new fad of treatment leave patients with a bigger list of complications in years to come? Unfortunately, there really is no way of knowing until we get to that point. For most of the patients applying for medical marijuana cards, the hopes of this drug being what gives them some relief are high. Often times they are out of treatment options and have nothing left to lose. In the almost natural form, MMJ has little to no known immediate significant side effects has been extremely well received, and it's success speaks for itself. From lessening meltdowns in children with autism to reducing the number of seizures a patient may have, MMJ has proven itself to be a phenomenal new way to approach treatment of a variety of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay: Legalizing Marijuana Leah Prado Eng Comp 1 Sunday March 29th Paper 3: Persuasive "Advantages of Legalizing Marijuana" Advantages of Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana use is on the rise, especially among teenagers and young adults. With the recent laws passed in eight states about legalizing medical marijuana , many stand divided when it comes to this never ending debate, but I firmly believe that this miracle working drug should be legalized throughout the United States. Marijuana is by far the most commonly used illegal drug. Statistics show that over 70 million Americans have tried Marijuana and over 20 million smoked it last year. So it is safe to assume that although marijuana use may decrease in the years to come, as...show more content... The main idea behind legalizing drugs is it's medical advantages. Marijuana is said to have many uses as healing drug. Marijuana being used as medicine has been studied for many years. In many cultures it is used as medicine and stems back many generations. The first recorded use of marijuana as medicine was in China. It has been said that in Pen Tsao Ching during the first or second century, boiled hemp compound was used as an anesthetic for surgical patients. The compound is said to have many uses including, clearing the blood, cooling temperature, clearing fluxes, undoing rheumatism and discharging pus from patients. China isn't the only country to use this drug in early times it was introduced in Southeast Asia in the sixteenth century. Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam are said to have current uses of marijuana for medicine. In Cambodia they have an enormous list of uses, including, treating malaria, reliving asthma, calming the nerves, regulating the heart and treating paralysis. In Thailand, it's used in folk medicine as well as in the official medical reports. In folk medicine, people dry the leaves and then boil them to treat migraines and dizzy spells. Marijuana has survived the passing of time and still helps the sick today. The advanced stages of treatment for patients with Cancer, AIDS and other diseases often include, terrible nausea, vomiting, and different types of pain. Patients have reported much relief from

  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana The plant marijuana has caused quite a problem in the US for the past few years. The debate on whether the drug should be legalized has split the nation in two. Some argue that the drug only has negative effects; people under its influence are unable to think rationally and act out in dangerous ways, severing ties with their family and potentially losing their jobs. Others argue that while this can be true, more studies should be conducted to learn about marijuana, because past tests have uncovered marijuana has medicinal benefits. These positive effects has already been made evident in states such as California and Colorado. Marijuana has the capability of saving lives from a medical and economical standpoint. Americas expenditure on criminal justice would decrease, and the price of the tax on marijuana could help reduce America's debt. Once marijuana is legalized the crime rate will decrease which is also helping our economy. Although marijuana is illegal, people continue to grow and market it. Often times throughout this illegal exchange process people put dangerous chemicals in their product. Prohibition can also start up a war. Marijuana consumers are outraged that such a simple drug is banned. So marijuana shouldn't be prohibited. It makes for a worst problem when its banned. More actually drug dealers who are selling to under aged kids whose minds haven't developed. Which causes abuse of the drug, criminal mischief in our adolescence and its available. They will buy it as long as the dealers are letting them. • 16. Persuasive Essay: Should Marijuana Be Legalized? Persuasive Essay I chose three different topics I would that I may chose for my persuasive essay. First, should taxes on alcohol and tobacco be increased to help pay for rising medical costs? Second, should all states require motorcyclists and passengers to wear helmets? Last, should marijuana be legalized? All three topics are interesting, and have always been debated upon. The first audience that I am trying to approch are people who believe that taxes shouldn't be increased on alcohol, and tobacco for medical costs. Lets be clear that nearly 2.5 million people die annually from alcohol, and more than 16 million Americans are living with a diseases caused by smoking. • 18. Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Legalizing marijuana for health and municipal purposes in the United States Of America, personally I think it's a great idea. A lot of other people don't think legalizing marijuana is the greatest idea in the world, they think that people will use it in the wrong ways and not to help with any diseases that it can kill. Legalizing marijuana in the United States should be done because it can help people with diseases that they can't fix with just any medicine, it can kill most deadly diseases, and it keeps people from taking multiple pills a day. Marijuana is a very powerful drug, eighty percent of the United States of America allows the use of marijuana for health and municipal purposes. Some of the people that use marijuana for health purposes will also use it just for fun and to get a good buzz, which is wrong but there is nothing we can do about it, unless we arrest them and post bail. The only thing the government could do is completely take it away for health and municipal purposes. That would leave thousands of people in pain and thousands of people would die just because people don't think it's a safe drug to use. They also think that if one person uses it then it could hurt or affect others. That is true but when it's used respectfully and responsibly I don't think it would hurt anyone. The use of marijuana can help soldiers that have been to war and have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, I personally know a man that was cured from turrets because he had Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This plant helps people with anxiety, depression and people with drug problems. These people who have drug problems are sometimes the causes of the crime rate. Marijuana was a relief to many people who are suffering from abuse, loss, regret and stress. Marijuana can be used as an alternative to pills. So instead of giving people with depression some medication that has lots of side effects and could possibly make their condition worse, or kill them. This drug could save lives. This drug is an antidepressant, it kills cancerous cells, and it also makes your brain function at a better rate. This should be used instead of pills, but since they don't prescribe this many people are getting addicted to drugs and abusing them.
