Since it is illegal the people who "need" marijuana to find the escape they find other ways to get it by growing and buying it from "gangs" who are
doing it illegally so they are always acting bad because all they want is to make a living. The people who are living in Colorado and Washington
and the states that are legal have less drug related crime rates. Their cities are safer and people are more happy in their environment. And people are
no longer getting taken away from their families and thrown in jail due to marijuana. But there have been debates on people who have been arrested
for marijuana abuse of the past, and if they should be released from prison and have their old drug charges

I picked cannabis as the plant to focus on because in my opinion it is probably the most controversial plant solely for the reason that people smoke it
so much Marijuana's past is far from criminalistic. Speculation that the plant started in Asia around 500 BC, shows the many positive uses of this plant
called cannabis or pot were used often. The plant was later introduced to Africa, Europe, and Americas. The seeds were used for food, and the hemp
was used for clothes and rope. By the 1600s, the plant had made its way to into the Americas, and states such as Massachusetts required farmers to
grow it and use the hemp for clothing. Some speculated that that the ancient people who used cannabis did know a little bit about the effects that

A doctor in India found out that the plant helped out lessening stomach problems; this was implemented into the United States for patients with stomach
problems. This important information was helpful to those who suffered from aids, the nausea that they felt was exterminated from the Marijuana, and
they became hungry. Regardless of the state, Marijuana's benefits really smoked any medicine out at the time, and Marijuana was just used in Texas as
in the whole country.
In the 1900's, Mexican Americans started bringing Marijuana into the country, and implemented a new culture into the American Culture. Marijuana
was banned altogether in 1930.
The short term effect is the obvious "high" that people feel after inhaling the THC from the plant. The long term effects are not as minimal in terms of
how long they last. If people smoke before their brain fully matures, it stunts their brain growth. They cannot do well in school which in turn taints their
chance of getting a job. All that does is lead them into a spiral, which doesn't help the epidemic.
As stated previously, there are SEVERAL uses of Cannabis that are helpful to people. The seeds can be used for food, the stem, also known as
hemp, can be used for clothes and rope. The leaves themselves, get rid of nausea and vomiting for cholera patients first, but then for AIDS patients as
