The accounting course that I completed was done externally
from TAFE, this meant I had no teacher to help me through this
course all I had was the notes that they sent me and the text
books that I borrowed from the TAFE library.
This meant that I had to learn to manage my time to enable all
of my schoolwork and the work that I was required to do for the
course to be completed by the set time frames.

I currently work at the White Hart Hotel in Murrurundi in the
kitchen and dining room.
ROADS AND MARITIME SERVICES/Roads and Maritime
Services for 13 years and 8 months, in this time I
have sat in various positions;
Compliance Officer: I am responsible for enrolling Transport
Operators that want to become part of the Intelligent Access
Program which allows them to carry a higher mass as long as
they comply with the requirements of the program. I am also
involved in monitoring these operators for compliance of the
program through Non Compliance Reports (NCR) received
from accredited service providers
Accounts Payable: I was responsible for the forecasting of
cash requirements for payments, entering of contract payments
ensuring that the terms of contract were being met, entering of
accounts ensuring that the terms of trade were being met.
Procurement: I was responsible for ensuring that all purchasing
policies and contracts are adhered to whilst supplying our
customers with a timely service.
Payroll: I am responsible for ensuring that all wages timesheets
are entered within the correct time frames and that all data
entered is in line with the current award.
I worked at Westpac Banking Corporation's Glen Innes branch
from May 1999 to February 2000 as a Temporary Officer; this
meant that I was on call 5 days a week in the event that a team
member became ill, was on a rostered day of or away on
3. holidays. This position gave me the opportunity to enhance my
communication skills with customers and colleagues; it also
gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in different
situations for example before the new millennium, answering
customer's queries about will their money be safe etc. This
meant having to explain to customers that there was no need
to worry about the millennium and reassuring them that their
money would be perfectly safe.
I worked at KFC Glen Innes from June 1996 to February 2000
as a casual Customer Service Team Member. During that time
I learnt cash handling skills, communication skills, all which
would be valuable for future positions.
The current position that I am in allows me to us my time
management skills because I have to work to time frames. This
position also allows me to utilise the skills I have learnt with
various computer software, such as word, excel, access, and
e-mail.
Relevant
Skills: Communication skills: such as dealing customers in an
effective manner I have gained these skills through dealing
with the customers and colleagues in the various positions I
have held in the workforce, this has involved having to be
diplomatic at times and also having to maintain a level of
confidentiality.
Computer skills: in using word processing, database,
spreadsheets and some experience with MYOB. I have also
used job specific programmes such as ROADS, this was a
programme specifically designed for the Roads and Maritime
Services, I have also used SAP with both the Roads and
Maritime Services and the Rural Fire Service, this is a German
software package that can be modified and tailored to an
organisations specific needs and requirements. I have gained
these skills through the various positions I have held in the
workforce and courses that I have under taken with the Roads
and Maritime Services and through my Diploma in Business
studies.
Cash handling skills: I have learnt and developed these
through my work experience at KFC and Westpac and also the
handling of petty cash for the Roads and Maritime Services.
I have a sound understanding of EEO and WHS principals.
I posses organisational Skills of which I have developed
through both work and school in having to be efficiently
organised to achieve goals and objectives at work and
education.
4. Interests: I enjoy both team and individual sports and I work out every
day, enjoy participating in boot camps and going to the gym.
My other interests include listening to music, boating, fishing,
participating in ute shows and I am a keen traveller.
