Leadership and Management Graduate Seeks Administrative Role
1. DAVID ROBERT HENRY
PERSONAL PROFILE
I am a Leadership, Management and Organisation graduate with a 2:1 honours degree from
the University of Teesside looking to provide quality, unparalleled administrative support and
customer service to any prospective employer.
I am qualified and experienced in administration and reception, with excellent
communication, computing and administrative skills who can demonstrate a high level of
business integrity and professionalism. For the past 12 years I have undertaken highly
responsible and complex work as part of the Fleet Management team at North Tyneside
Council. I am enthusiastic and self motivated, with a proactive approach.
I am always looking to improve working practices and streamline procedures. I have had
significant involvement to improve departmental systems and procedures to give our
customers a valuable experience. During my time at the council I have initiated a significant
amount of change regarding computerisation of procedures and documents.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
August 2004 to present: Data Control Coordinator for Fleet Management of North
Tyneside Council
My role is to support the maintenance of the councils vehicle fleet and externally owned or
hired vehicles and plant. My responsibilities include the processing of job cards using
Tranman - an automated fleet management system, for which I have been appointed project
manager. I am also responsible for stores and imprest stock management and ordering non
stock parts and processing invoices.
I monitor all fuel usage utilising the Merridale IT system and carry out driving assessments to
ensure employees are complying with council regulations and its insurance policy
requirements. I also maintain the vehicle records and ensure that vehicles are available for
service and repairs in accordance with the Operator’s Licence and strict VOSA regulations to
ensure vehicles are fit for use. I also carry out minor vehicle repairs.
KEY ACHEIVEMENTS
During my employment with North Tyneside Council I have introduced changes that have
improved efficiency and modernised the culture of the Fleet Management department.
Although there was some resistance to my suggestions at first, with my persistence and
change management techniques everyone has embraced all changes I have made.
Changes include computerisation of our departmental holiday planner. This was previously
recorded handwritten in old books. It wasn’t easily manageable or user friendly. I
computerised this task by designing a spreadsheet with colour coding for annual holidays,
flexi-leave, sick absence and training days etc.
I also redesigned and computerised all service sheets and office based forms and
documents into a system that can be continuously updated as vehicle technology advances.
2. In the parts stores in conjunction with Tranman I have implemented the electronic stores
management module meaning that all parts are now booked out using barcode scanners,
rather than as before manually recording used parts that require replenishment on a hand
written form then duplicating that information onto the corresponding job card for pricing.
Now all imprest stock parts have been assigned an individual barcode and I have trained all
relevant staff on how to use the equipment. This means parts are now booked by scanning a
barcode. The information is simultaneously electronically recorded onto the corresponding
job card and an order is emailed to our suppliers for efficient stock replenishment.
WORK EXPERIENCE
In October 2002 I attended work experience with North Tyneside Council under the
Environmental Services directorate. Experience gained included; IT, admin and reception,
financial processing, financial reporting, personnel and employee services.
Between October 2003 and August 2004 I worked in the post room and reception before
being head hunted by the Transport Manager and working for Fleet Management as part of
my apprenticeship. My post room and reception duties involved collecting and delivering mail
to the entire workforce, preparing and franking mail for dispatch, receipting and sorting mail
for internal delivery and recording all incoming monies to the council. Reception work
involved greeting and assisting members of the public with enquiries and directing them to
the relevant department either face to face or by telephone.
