2. Background
Born on the 6th of June,1992 with cerebral palsy,
which means she has difficulty moving her legs and
body,Jacqueline followed in the footsteps of her
swimming family and set herself the goal that she
would one day become a competitive swimmer.As
therapy, her mum and dad would take her for
swims...everday! As Jacqueline spent most of her
time playing in the pool she learnt to swim before she
could walk. At first she struggled to keep up with the
other swimmers but over time she progressed from
the bottom of the pack to become the best swimmer
in his squad.
She is the third generation of competitive swimmers.
Her grandfather (Peter Freney) coached her father
(Michael Freney) and now her dad coaches
Jacqueline.

Siobhan Paton
Siobhan Bethany Paton, OAM is an Australian Paralympic
swimmer. As of 2004, she holds thirteen world records in her disability class of S14.
8. Reasons
Being born with cerebral palsy has not stopped Jacqueline Freney from achieving
greatness.
She is also involved in the community, working with Swimming Australia as a
motivational speaker to help other people with disabilities reach their potential.
Jacqueline is a role model and proves that, with hard work and determination,
anything is possible.
