2. Strengths
One of our strengths from last year was that the very beginning of our
blog we made sure to have a clear idea of what our narrative would be and
that we wanted to do a physicological thriller. This made easier for:
location ideas, costumes, camera shot ideas, etc.
We also made sure that we knew what the typical codes and conventions
of a Thriller were so that we knew what to include in our video to make
sure it was recognisable as a thriller but also what to do differently to
make our video stand out.
I also think that some of our shots in our final cut are good as there are
various angles and shots in our music video which help to cause the
creepy, tense atmosphere that we aimed to create.
3. Weaknesses
One of our major weaknesses last year was our organisation and time
management. The blog and the video was all left to the, ‘last minute’ so to
speak which left us rushing which had a knock on effect with the quality of
our work on both the blog and on our video.
We made a film schedule and a story board however we did not follow
them both enough which led to a lot of improvisation. If we had been
more organised and followed a clear structure then I think we would have
ended having better quality work and wouldn’t have had to be rushing to
get all the work done.
4. Opportunities
This year we have an opportunity to organise ourselves so that our work
quality and our time management both benefit. Our attitude this year is
that the more work we put in on the blog now we help us later on when it
comes to filming.
From editing last year and use of different camera shots; this year we can
use our previous experience and knowledge to know what to use and what
not to use.
So I think compared to last year there’s an opportunity for there to be a lot
less improvisation as we will make sure we have a clear structure of what
needs to be done and when to do it.
5. Threats
This year there is more work as we need to produce more blog posts and
the editing of the music video may be a challenge. This requires us to
make sure that we do plenty of blog post early on and do not leave filming
and editing so late. The earlier we get this done the longer we can spend
improving our work and making any changes that are necessary.
Also the are only two of us in our group which means the work load is
going to be for our group that it would a group of four for example. This
means both of us will have to make sure we put an equal amount of time
and effort in so that our work as whole benefits.
