1. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?...
2. Organisation of time LAST TIME: our teacher organised our time, he told us what we had to do, and when to have it done by THIS TIME: we organised our own time, using the calendar on Outlook:
3. Planning & prep LAST TIME: we only undertook a small amount of planning THIS TIME: we spent about two weeks doing lots of detailed planning. This meant that the filming and editing was much easier, as we know exactly how our title sequence would look like. All of the planning went into the blog:
4. Conventions LAST TIME: we didn't do any research, as it wasn't needed THIS TIME: we researched and looked at lots of media texts, this helped us to build a detailed target audience profile
5. LAST TIME: we didn’t have a target audience, as it wasn’t needed THIS TIME: we had a very specific target audience – we undertook a lot of research to get an idea of what the target audience really want, so that the title was designed for them. Using the target audience
6. LAST TIME: we didn’t really need to think about these, we were taught how to use the basic equipment, then went off and filmed THIS TIME: our camera skills were really important. We had to consider framing and the rule of thirds, different camera angles and varied shots. This meant that our title sequence looked more professional than the preliminary task did Camera skills
7. LAST TIME: we learnt basic Premiere Pro skills – how to import clips, cutting the clips using the razorblade tool and then exporting the finished video. THIS TIME: we developed our basic editing skills to be more advanced- we made use of music, we used lots of titles and experimented with effects, such as moving the title across the screen. We made more intricate cuts through the use of the razorblade tool, we used lots of video effects and transition between the clips and we learnt that rendering is really important – it makes the film much smoother. I can’t remember being told the importance of rendering during the preliminary task. Post-production (premiere pro)
8. What is the biggest thing that you have learnt from undertaking this project? During the project, I learnt lots of important skills. These are: framing, rule of thirds, different angles, camera positions, having a target audience, using camera equipment correctly, importance of effective planning and preparation, audience and genre research. These meant that the title sequence looked almost professional, that it was appealing to the target audience and fitted the action genre.
