1. (8) Personal InfOrDlation: NabuAbdul Ghaniis anMghan national born 1952(age
50)in Nibrooz, Afghanistan. Detaineeasbeendiagnosedwith latenttuberculosis,chronic
hepatitisB, andpositive cardiacrisk factor, but is otherwisein goodhealth.
2. (FOUO) Detention Information: On approximately20 October2001, subjectdetainee
left his homein Shishawa,Mghanistan, to travel bybusto Konduz,Mghanistan,in search
of his eldestson,Abdul QaharGahni,whomhefearedhad eitherjoined or been
conscriptedby theTaliban. After arriving in Konduz,detaineediscoveredthathis sonwas
notpartof the Talibandrafteesfrom his village. Unableto leave Konduz aftertheTaliban
sun-enderedto GeneralDostum'sforces,thedetaineeremainedin Konduzandwas soon
aftercapturedby GeneralDostum's forces. Detaineewasthentransportedto Sheberghan
andheld for approximatelyforty-five days,afterwhichhewastransferredto U.S control in
Kandahar.Detaineewas lat~rtransportedto GuantanamoBayNaval Base,Cuba,arriving
on or about13June2002. The detaineewastransferredto the GuantanamoBay detention
facility becauseof his generalknowledgeof TalibanpersonnellocatedinjKonduz, and
thosewho wereheld in Sheberghan.Thedetaineehasbeencooperative,QutJTFGTMO
considersthe information obtain~ from and abouthim asnotvaluableof ~ctica1ly
exploitable.
3. (S)Assessment: Basedon cunentinformation, detaineeISN: US9AF-OO354DPis
assessedasnot affiliated with al-Qaidaor asbeingaTalibanleader. Moreover,basedon
the detaineefolder, the knowledgeabilitybrief (KB), andsubsequentinterrogationsby JTF
GTMO, theresultsof which areavailableonthe JTFGTMO detaineedatabase,the
detaineehasno furtherintelligencevalueto theUnited Statesandwill notbe seenfor
furtherintelligencepurposes.Subjectdetaineehasnot expressedthoughtsof violenceor
madethreatstoward theU.S. or its allies duringinterrogationsor in the courseof his
