National Educational Policy 2020
First educational policy of 21st century & Third Education Policy after Independence of India.
Cabinet chaired by Hon. Modi approved NEP 2020 on 29th July 2020 replaced 34th year old NEP 1986
Built on the foundational pillar of Access , Equity , Quality , Affordability & Accountability.
This policy aligned with 2030 agenda for sustainable development goal (4).
The NEP aims to transforming India into a vibrant knowledge society and global knowledge superpower.
4. Features of NEP 2020
Making both School and Colleges Education more holistic, Flexible, Multidisciplinary suited to 21st
centuries needs.
Children not only Lear but more importantly Learn How to Learn.
Education must move towards less content and more towards learning.
Pedagogy must evolve to make education more experiential, holistic, integrated, inquiry-driven,
discovery-oriented, learner centered, discussion based, flexible and of course enjoyable.

Early childhood care and education : The foundation of learning.
Foundational literacy and numeracy : an urgent & necessary, pre-requisite to learning.
Curriculum & Pedagogy in School learning should be Holistic, Integrated, Enjoyable, Engaging,
Equitable & Inclusive Education Learning for All.
NCPFECCE – National Curricular & Pedagogical Framework for Early Childhood Care &
Education. Up to Age 8 Developed by NCERT. Into Two Part (1) 0-3 year old (2) 3-8 year old.
It will achieve Foundational Literacy in Primary School by 2025.
National repository of high quality resources will made available on Digital Infrastructure for
Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA).
NCFSE-2020-21-National Curriculum Framework for School Education. By NCERT for Grade 6-8.

Quality Universities & Colleges : A New & Forward Looking Vision for India’s Higher Education System

3. Establishment of a National Research Foundation (NRF)
Institutional Restructuring & Consolidation

Aim to Increase the GER of Higher Education including Vocational Edu. From 26.30% to 50% by
2035.
All Higher Education Institutions will become interdisciplinary & have greater Student
enrolment by 2040.
Deemed , Affiliation, Unitary University shall be replaced by University or fulfilling criteria as per
norms.
Towords a more Holistic & Multidisciplinary Education
1. 2 years Masters Program & 2nd Year devoted Entirely to research for who completed 3 year
Bachelor.

EDUCATION COMMISSION OF INDIA.
1. National Higher Education Regulatory Council (NHEERC). Single Point regulator for High. Edu.
2. National Accreditation Council (NAC) Meta Accrediting body To Supervise over Institutions.
3. Higher Education Grants Council (HEGC) For Finding & Financing of High. Edu.
4. General Education Council (GEC) Will frame learning outcome for Higher Education program.
National Higher Education Qualification Framework (NHEQF) will be Formulated by GEC.
