2. What is SEO ?

The goal of SEO is to get more traffic from
search engines like Google.
Google reviews web pages to see which

This is what makes up the results page that

3. How does the
Search Engine
Work?
○ Search engines work by crawling hundreds of billions of
pages using their own web crawlers. These web crawlers
are commonly referred to as search engine bots or
spiders. A search engine navigates the web by
downloading web pages and following links on these
pages to discover new pages that have been made
available.
○ Indexing - Process of creating index for all the
fetched web pages and keeping them into a
giant database from where it can later be
retrieved. Essentially, the process of indexing is
identifying the words and expressions that best
describe the page and assigning the page to
particular keywords.
○ Processing - When a search request comes,
the search engine processes it, i.e., it
compares the search string in the search
request with the indexed pages in the
database.
○ Retrieving Results - The last step in search
engine activities is retrieving the best

10. What are the
Google Algorithm
updates?
Each year, Google changes its search
algorithm around 500–600 times. While most
of these changes are minor, Google
occasionally rolls out a "major" algorithmic
update (such as Google Panda, Google
Penguin) that affects search results in
significant ways
For search marketers, knowing the dates
of these Google updates can help explain
changes in rankings and organic website
traffic and ultimately improve search
engine optimization. Below, we’ve listed
the major algorithmic changes that have
had the biggest impact on search.
12. Panda Update -
2011
Google’s Panda Update is a search
filter introduced in February 2011 meant to
stop sites with poor quality content from
working their way into Google’s top search
results. Panda is updated from time-to-time.
When this happens, sites previously hit may
escape, if they’ve made the right changes.
Panda may also catch sites that escaped
before.
In short Google’s Panda updates are designed
to penalize sites with weak content and
reward sites with
quality content
13. Penguin update
The Penguin update is an update to the Google
ranking algorithm, first carried out in 2012. Back then, the
rollout of the update had massive effects on many
websites. Google intended the update to fight webspam.
Today, the Penguin update is a part of the core algorithm of
the Google search engine
Google launched the Penguin Update in April 2012
Google tracks down sites that use ‘Black Hat’ SEO
techniques or are just plain Spammy. The kind of things it
looks at are paid links, keyword stuffing and anything that
contravenes the Google Webmaster Guidelines. In
previous updates Google has added any tricks it missed
the previous times
