The Contribution Approach
Sales, variable expenses, and contribution margin can
also be expressed on a per unit basis. If Racing sells

The margin of safety is the excess of
budgeted (or actual) sales over the
break-even volume of sales.

compensated based on sales commissions.

  25. Here is a more complex situation because we will experience a change in selling price, advertising expense, and unit sales. Would you support this plan?
  26. This appears to be a good plan because net income will increase by two thousand dollars. Take a few minutes and analyze the change in sales revenue, variable expenses and fixed expenses.
