DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. SENIOR OPERATIONS GEOLOGIST:
o Supervision of “Formation Evaluation” contractors (Mud Logging Geologists, MWD Logging
Engineers, Wireline Logging Engineers, Coring and Well Testing Personnel).
o Work closely with the drilling team, providing advice when necessary to assist in safe, cost-
effective drilling and non-drilling operations.
o Following up the horizontal well placement operations 24/7 using PETREL.
o Supervise and quality control the logging while drilling (LWD) Res - GR, ADN & frequent
advice the drilling personnel at the rig site for updating the directional plan while drilling if
necessary related to the updated geological data.
o Evaluating the available geological services tools, correlation between prognoses and actual
results.
o Quick-look interpretation of geological & formation evaluation data.
o Instantaneous Reservoir Gas Ratio Evaluation.
o Analysis of the drilling parameters and interpretation of the changes in the rate of penetration.
o Logistics concerning the formation evaluation contractors and their equipments.
o Quality control of all evaluation results and logs prior to accepting the data or logs from the
contractors.
o Providing relevant correlation and well data to the contractors during the operations.
o Daily, Weekly & Final Geological reports.
o Checking all reports and logs from the evaluation contractors prior to sending them to the
Operation Geology Leader.
o Monitoring and supervising the collecting, processing and dispatching of formation evaluation
samples.
o Sample description and interpretation of fluorescence shows.
o Safe-guarding the collection, storage and transmission of information and reports at the
wellsite.
o Wellsite interpretation of the formation evaluation data.
o Checking and occasionally approving and signing of service reports and invoices of the
formation evaluation contractors.
o Ensure data Confidentiality.
o Keeping the operations geology Leader fully informed of all formation evaluation operations.
o Implement Company standards in Geological Operations, with support from, & reference to,
the Operation Geology Adviser in HQ.
o Mentoring junior geoscientists.
2. SENIOR GEOLOGIST
o Generation of Correlation panels, Cross sections, Mapping etc. Using PETREL and
STRATWORKS / LANDMARK software.
o Participates in the design, planning and execution of geological surveys in order to gather
data for analysis in determining exploration prospects.
o Participates in and supervises site activities including those of contractors in order to ensure
compliance with collection protocols and integrity of geological data collected.

assist in the development of risk appraisal strategies
o Maintains and exhibits excellent working relationships with all Company staff.
3. OPERATIONS / WELLSITE GEOLOGIST
Responsible for the acquisition of complete and accurate geologic and formation evaluation
data and providing drilling personnel with information needed to ensure safe and efficient
drilling operations. These responsibilities cover a wide range of duties including the following:
o The implementation of the Formation Evaluation Program
o Monitoring and supervision of mud logging operations, including:
Ensuring that mud logging procedures are carried out to COMPANY standards and
that mudlogs are kept up to date.
Drill cuttings samples are caught at the specified intervals (as per the Formation
Evaluation Program outlined in the pre-drill well package (Well Information Summary)
and described adequately as per COMPANY standard abbreviations.
Hydrocarbon shows are described adequately.
Ensuring that all the data are plotted (as per COMPANY format) on logs (main,
pressure, drilling, etc.).
Ensuring that all mudlogging data is measured, captured, plotted, transmitted, and
distributed per COMPANY instructions.
o Monitoring and supervision of the MWD / LWD operation, including:
Monitor MWD / LWD operation ensuring COMPANY'S program is executed efficiently
and that the data obtained meets COMPANY's standards.
Correlate LWD logs with offset wells logs for determination of stratigraphic intervals
(i.e. horizon tops) picking of core points, casing seat depth, etc.
o Monitoring and supervision of coring operation, including:

Pick conventional core points as per the Coring Program guidelines.
Core processing and description.
Organizing the shipment of core from the rig to COMPANY's office or to the core
analysis CONTRACTOR's office.
o Monitoring and supervision of the wireline logging operations, including:
Discussing and planning for the wireline logging program with COMPANY personnel
and the wireline logging CONTRACTOR.
Ensuring that the wireline logging CONTRACTOR provides tool sketches of every tool
to be run and measures the fishing head of each tool prior to running it in the wellbore.
Ensuring that all logs are recorded as per COMPANY standards (i.e. providing quality
control to ensure highest quality petrophysical data capture and recording by
remaining in the logging unit whenever logging tools are in the open hole, ensuring
that the wireline Logging Engineer performs all required pre and post logging
calibrations/tool checks and that calibration measurements are within specifications,
monitoring logging speed and hole conditions, running repeats, comparing log
response with response from offset wells, questioning the Logging Engineer when
flags appear on the logging unit console, communicating with COMPANY personnel
regarding any deviation from plan, etc.).
Responsible for recommending pressure and fluid sample testing points and running
MDT to acquire pressures and formation fluid samples.
Responsible for monitoring transfer of formation fluid samples from MDT chambers to
analysis chambers (if transfer is done at the rig) and coordination of transportation of
the analysis chambers to the fluid analysis vendor laboratory.
Carrying out any necessary onsite log analysis.
Ensuring that logging data is transmitted and/or transported from the rig as quickly as
possible.
o Provide geological operations coordination, including:
Assist COMPANY drilling personnel in coordinating activities of CONTRACTORs
responsible for acquisition of geologic data, (e.g. mudlogging, wireline, MWD/LWD,
coring, etc.).
Generate Daily Geological Report (report shall include a summary of last 24 hours of
wellsite operations (including present operation and report date/time), current depth,
amount of hole drilled in last 24 hrs, casing/bit data (last casing size, setting depth,
and pressure integrity test; current bit type and size), mud properties (type, density,
chlorides, water loss, mud filtrate resistivity, pH), lithology summary, show data, and
detailed listing of geologic CONTRACTOR personnel on the rig (include
CONTRACTOR company name, individual's name, and number of hours they
worked).
Assist in preparation of Mudlogging End of Well Report.
Maintain geological records and material inventory at the Wellsite.
Assist COMPANY drilling personnel with shipment and distribution of geologic and
drilling data (including cores, drilling cuttings samples, fluid samples, etc.) to
COMPANY’s office and Shareholders.
o Quality control of all the geologic data, including:
Monitor all mudlogging operations - monitor equipment operation and calibration, edit
mudlog and ensure drill cutting samples are caught, prepared, bagged, boxed, and
stored correctly until shipped off of location.

Supervise all coring and core recovery operations - ensure mud samples are collected
prior to coring; ensure all core is properly recovered and processed as per the Coring
Program and labelled, boxed and stored until shipped off of location.
Monitor MWD / LWD and wireline logging operations - ensure mud samples are
collected prior to conducting open-hole wireline logging; provide QA/QC to ensure
accuracy of petrophysical measurements and depth control.
Ensure all formation fluid samples are recovered, handled, documented and stored
properly until shipped off of location.
In the absence of a geophysical operations representative, supervise and QA/QC the
performance of the service COMPANY conducting the velocity survey.
Evaluate and document performance of contractors responsible for acquisition of
geological data.
Drilling safety and compliance with COMPANY safety and environmental regulations
Monitor compliance with all safety and environmental regulations by all rig personnel
and report any problems to the COMPANY Drilling Superintendent.
Ensure that all wireline tools planned to be run in the hole have been callipered,
measured, and a sketch of the tool illustrating these measurements is made prior to
running in the hole.
Inform COMPANY personnel of all geologic and drilling data that may have an impact
on their operations.
Ensure that all samples that may be classified as hazardous materials are properly
packaged for shipment as per all relevant regulations related to the international
transportation of hazardous materials.
