CHALLENGE CASE IN AGIBA
While reviewing some of the old wells in western desert and as normal start to look at the
available data, and indeed the mud logging data is the one of the important one that you need
to check it and I noticed one interval composed of shaly and silty interval have oil shows and
gas analysis while drilling but based on open hole logs it is shaly intervals so I believed that we
have thin laminated reservoir but the available logging tools at that time didn’t recognized it
due to resolution so I suggest to my mangers that in next well across this reservoir we need
very high resolution tools in addition to the mud logging unit, so in the recent well we defined
the reservoirs from mud logging by oil & Gs shows with silty sand facies, no x-over between
density-neutron tools, the resistivity reads from 1 to 1.5 ohm.m., the calculations of water
saturation was 70 -80 %, so I realized that we have low resistivity reservoir with bad quality
but it is no problem because this quality could be improved by fracture job and the high water
saturation may be due to irreducible water, so to be sure from that I recorded NMR & FMI
which confirmed my idea and we found that we have pay intervals with thin sand lamina and
the existing water is irreducible water, so according to this data we ordered to perforate one
intervals and make fracture job where the results was fantastic, the well produced 400 oil
barrels per day and consequently my mangers asked from me to make plane to re-open the old
wells which have the same characterizations
And I did it for 5 wells tell I left AGIBA in Nov.-2006

  • 6. CHALLENGE CASE IN AGIBA While reviewing some of the old wells in western desert and as normal start to look at the available data, and indeed the mud logging data is the one of the important one that you need to check it and I noticed one interval composed of shaly and silty interval have oil shows and gas analysis while drilling but based on open hole logs it is shaly intervals so I believed that we have thin laminated reservoir but the available logging tools at that time didn’t recognized it due to resolution so I suggest to my mangers that in next well across this reservoir we need very high resolution tools in addition to the mud logging unit, so in the recent well we defined the reservoirs from mud logging by oil & Gs shows with silty sand facies, no x-over between density-neutron tools, the resistivity reads from 1 to 1.5 ohm.m., the calculations of water saturation was 70 -80 %, so I realized that we have low resistivity reservoir with bad quality but it is no problem because this quality could be improved by fracture job and the high water saturation may be due to irreducible water, so to be sure from that I recorded NMR & FMI which confirmed my idea and we found that we have pay intervals with thin sand lamina and the existing water is irreducible water, so according to this data we ordered to perforate one intervals and make fracture job where the results was fantastic, the well produced 400 oil barrels per day and consequently my mangers asked from me to make plane to re-open the old wells which have the same characterizations And I did it for 5 wells tell I left AGIBA in Nov.-2006 JUN 1997 – JUN 1999 AGIBA PETROLEUM CO., EGYPT OPERATION GEOLOGIST Responsibilities included: • Working as a wellsite geologist in all Agiba concessions onshore in (Meleiha, Aghar, Zarif, Faras & Raml Fields) in western desert & offshore in (Ashrafi & W.Ashrafi Fields) in Gulf of Suez. • Working with most mud logging units “Baker Hughes inteq, Halliburton, Petro-service & Geo- service “. • Working with most wire line companies “Schlumbergere, Halliburton & Western Atlas“. • Study all the objectives of the well before drilling “seismically, structurally, geologically & sedimentlogically “. • Make a full description for drilling cutting. • Make a full evaluation for hydrocarbon shows while drilling “ through cutting samples & gas system in mud logging unit “ • Correlate between drilling well & offsite wells, determine the top formations and stratigraphic markers by using all available data “ drilling parameters, mud logs & Composites of offsite wells “ • Determine the most favorable point for set the casing. • Determine the best point for catching bottom hole core “core handle, core sample & detail description for core.” • High familiar with LWD, TLC & Geosteering techniques. • Follow up the operation of drill stem test and evaluate the results. • Interpret all types of logs & make interpretation for composites & completions for wells. • Prepare the final geological well reports.
