disasters .
 3million people killed world wide due to natural
disaster in past 20years.
 In developing countries India has the second largest
share
 Declared 1990-99 as International Decade For
Natural Disaster Reduction

3.  70% of the cultivable land is prone to drought
 60% to earthquake
 12% to floods
 8% to cyclones
 22 state are categorised as multi hazard states.

 Teaching children risk education &
management material.
 In 2006 CBSE discusses integrating a
short course on disaster preparedness
& management into the curriculum.
 Educating a child is educating a family.

5.  DM is a plan that has been done strategically & the
process is administered & employed to protect critical
assets from natural or human made calamities &
destruction take place.
 Integrated Public Alert and Warning System.

7. DISASTER MANAGEMENT &
EDUCATION
 Govt of India , Ministry of Human Resource
Development in its tenth five year plan emphasized
the need for integrating DM in the existing education
system in India.
 DM IN the curriculum of school & professional
education has been recommended to the boards.
 CBSE has integrated a short course on DM in the
school curriculum.
 They introduced the subject on DM as a frontline
curriculum in social science .
