During its early days, Netflix:
•Struggled to do well
•Was operating at a loss
Desperate times called for
desperate measures…
The founders of Netflix decided to meet
Blockbuster (their competitors and then
market leaders) for a buyout negotiation
The meeting didn’t go well, and
Blockbuster rejected Netflix’s offer
On the way back, one of the founders
asked Marc Randolph, another co-
founder “So, what’s next?”
Marc replied “I guess, now we
have to crush them!”
Fast forward to current day, Netflix is
the market leader in its industry,
