3. A solar heat operated system.
Quite similar to vapour compression system.
Compressor is replaced by pump, generator and absorber.
Ammonia is used as refrigerant i.e R-717.
Heat in generator is supplied by solar electrical power
stored in battery
Condensation, expansion and evaporation are same as VCR
SYSTEM.
4. To make effective refrigeration making use of solar energy.
One time investment with minimum running expense.
Pollution free system.
Refrigeration system having low maintenance cost.
6. Used to store the mixture of water and ammonia in
particular proportion.
Function is to produce the aqua ammonia solution.
Low pressure of ammonia NH3 vapour is absorb by weak
solution of ammonia NH3 which is stored in absorber
7. Heats the strong aqua solution up to boiling temperature of
ammonia solution to produce ammonia vapours.
Here ,solar panel is used for heating purpose.
Separates the dissolved ammonia from water –ammonia
solution.
8. A device or unit to used condense a solution from its
gaseous to its liquid state.
Application areas include air conditioning ,industrial
chemical processes such as steam power plant
9. Controls amount of refrigerant flow into the evaporator.
Cause a pressure drop of the working fluid.
Causes sudden drop in temperature.
Type of expansion valves used capillary type expansion
valve.
10. Absorbtion of heat from surrounding.
Heat transfer is done by forced convection or natural
convection.
Application areas:food and beverages industry
,phamaceutical industry.
11. The electricity for heating coil is obtained from solar panel.
The solar panel used in the project is of 60W and 4A.
Usually made up of p-n silicon semiconductor aluminium or
fibre glass. Fibre glass is widely use.
12.
13. Ammonia solution is pumped to generator with help of
pump
Ammonia solution is heated to a temperature suitable for
separating ammonia vapor from ammonia solution.
Ammonia vapors condenses in condenser.
Liquid ammonia from condenser expand through
expansion valve.
Chilled ammonia causes cooling effect in the evaporator.
Finally ammonia is transferred to absorber and the process
continues.
14. SOLAR SYSTEM ADVANTAGES
Non-polluting and clean source of energy.
Renewable source of energy.
Immense source of energy.
Capacity to satisfy present and future need.
High intensity in summer season.
15. ADVANTAGES OF SOLAR VAPOUR
ABSORBTION SYSTEM
Uses low grade energy like heat
Ex-exhaust from ic engine.
Less moving parts.
Smooth operation.
Can work on lower evaporator pressure, without affecting
the COP.
Very efficient for higher load conditions.
16. DISADVANTAGES OF SOLAR VAPOUR
ABSORBTION SYSTEM
The initial cost of investment is high.
The solar energy is seasonable during winter season sunrays
falls on the panel is very less .
Absorbtion refrigeration consumed much time to refregerate
compare to compression refrigeration system.
COP is low compare to compression refrigerator.
18. Using solar energy as apower source of the system proved
to be feasible.
Solar energy is a renewable source of energy proved to be
efficient as compare to using electrical energy of steam
energy at the same place.
With the flow of ammonia through the system ,we were
able to to use it as an air conditioner and that to with the help
of renewable and non polluting source of energy i,e solar
energy.
