Jan 2014 -Present TOPSHOP
Position Senior Merchandiser
I progressed to the position of Senior Merchandiser in 2014 to manage the Jersey
department. It has an annual turnover of £110m and 558 options.
When I became responsible for the department, it was trading -40% to LY.
I had to implement key strategies in order to turn the department around and
successfully achieved this within 2months of entering the position.
We finished the Spring Half trading +5% v LY and +30% v LY for Autumn Half with profit
coming through +39% v LY.
Key Responsibilities include:
-Strategically plan the season with clear building blocks to grow sales and profit vs the
year. Review lessons learned from previous seasons to help support strategy going
forward.
-Manage a base of 20 suppliers across 7 COO to strategically place business in order to
achieve the best product for the best price and maximise margin.
-Trade department to drive sales and minimise MD risk. Managing 40 category WSSI’s
rolling up to top-line department WSSI.
-Work with Buyer to manage and buy Global range for all Markets. Managing store
performance across 570 stores globally, including 350 own buy.
2. -Ensure the range is commercial and first to Market and that we have the right stock, in
the right place, at the right time.
-Manage a team of 14 including 7 Merchandising members. Responsible for helping
them to drive their own development and achieve objectives set out for them.
-Built strong relationships within the brand to help drive Topshop as a business.
-Recruitment of all Topshop AM’s.
-Help co-ordinate global integration, implementing new processes such as Global line
detail, which I have put together, tried and tested on my own dept and then rolled out
across all teams.
-Run High summer roll for the business helping maximise sales and minimise risk.
