I am a highly motivated and experienced Retail Manager, with over 28 years’ in the field.
Working in Dulux Decorator Centres has provided me with extensive experience and a strong skill
set. My skills are transferable to any new role, which would be beneficial to potential new
employers.
As a highly adaptable individual, used to working to an excellent standard, I have been successful
at delivering results.
I bring passion and drive to whatever I apply myself to. My personal interests have provided me
with skills that have proven to be assets in the workplace. My DIY expertise allows me to adopt a
solution orientated approach, giving me an insight that others often miss or are scared to address.
Additionally my ability to adapt to change allows me to quickly understand and master new tools,
capitalising on the benefits that they bring to the workplace.
JAN 2002-PRESENT. Dulux Decorator Centre’s.
Position: Manager.
Starting in their Basildon Store, I became confident in my role understanding the various aspects
of my role. Within six months I also dual managed the Westcliff store. Within twelve months I was
offered the managers role at Rayleigh. I have taken this store from £1m store to a £1.5m turnover.
Jan 2007 – 2008. Branch Manager; Rayleigh and Basildon.
Duties Included overseeing all aspects of Branch management and customer visits.
Jan2008 – 2010. Branch Manager; Rayleigh, Basildon and Brentwood.
My role included development of all three stores adding sales growth to all three by developing
customer relationships and improving the look of the Brentwood store through merchandising
and a complete over hall of staff training. I also helped develop the role of Territory Store
manager which was rolled out across the business. These roles were used in key areas where one
Manager had overall charge of three stores.
Due to illness and a change of management my role was reduced back to branch Manager of
Rayleigh.
Apart from Managing the store and developing the team I have carried out other duties on the
area. These duties were based around Recruitment and more recently Audit. I developed some of
the procedures and training of other store managers to help them become more confident with
this role. During this time I recruited more than fifty staff over two regions. I spent time making
sure the people fit the existing team. The role was very time consuming as I had to read all
applications, hold telephone interviews, arrange and carry out interviews.
I was part of the development of a new induction program making the process more professional
and up to date with the company.
For the past two years I have also undertaken the role of Audit on the area. This has made sure
our area is complying with the companies Audit process.
Other duties include Investigations and Disciplinaries.
NOV94-JAN 2002: Bewise ltd. (retail)
Position: Manager.
DUTIES: Staffing, Budgets, Meeting targets, Merchandising, Loss prevention, Training and all other
aspects of management. I managed Bewise at Braintree. I have taken the store forward each of
the three years that I have been there increasing the business by 25% over that time. I managed
seventeen staff that I regard as an asset to the company. I also helped with new store openings,
recruitment.
NOV86-NOV94: Y.P. (formally known as Your Price). Take over by Bewise ltd. Nov 94.
DUTIES: As above. There is a difference in how we were aloud to manage a Your Price store prior
to the Bewise take over. The main difference being the information we were given to aid the
profitability of the store with the store manager being responsible for all controllable costs and
the style of management.

POSITION: Partnership in business.
DUTIES: Day to day running of business, which involved selling menswear through market stalls,
buying the stock then selling through various markets, employing one other. The business was in
the process of diversifying into wholesale with the set up of a new venture tied to a large
manufacturer based in Hong Kong. Two months into the venture and just as business was being
won, the exchange rate plummeted which pushed the company into cancelling any further orders
until the pound recovered.
FEB81-JUNE82: Dual gold ltd. (art gallery)
DUTIES: Day to day management of gallery. I also travelled to see clients, selling oil paintings
individually and wholesale. This gave me a good base to learn the basics of selling and managing
