Languages
Mini Studios:
In the
classrooms,
these spaces
are essential
to encouraging
the use of arts
as a language
of learning
Enough space, organization of
that space, the accessibility,
and the beauty of the space
will essential to encourage
children to engage in this
language of learning
Larger whole school Ateliers are used by the
whole school, but usually with smaller groups
of children and in collaboration with the
Atelierista or Studio teacher
This studio space is for the whole school to use, but
notice how they have different size tables for their
very young to preschool.
Large Central Atelier In the Diana School
Ateliers go outside too! Many Reggio Emilia
Schools and Reggio-Inspired schools have
Ateliers or studios outside as well. Especially if
the climate allows it!!!
There are many different kinds of Ateliers or studio
spaces. Its not just for arts.
Loose parts
and recycled
materials
studios are
very popular
This all goes for infants too, it just
means different loose parts choices.
As well as light and shadow or technology
studios
• Take your time and go through these images several times. Then you
will answer the questions about how to develop more studio spaces
