Many interests in the United States are inconsistent. We have interests on both the Left and the Right who advocate for one thing and another thing that's inconsistent with their beliefs. This is especially true when it concerns the Constitution of the United States.

The Left wants to take power from big business and corporations. But, they want
to rewrite the Constitution and restructure our government to concentrate political
power into the hands of mobs and a central bureaucratic government. They do
not trust big business and corporations with power. Yet, they would trust the
masses, mobs, and the government with power. What’s the difference? Power is
dangerous and has the power to corrupt. Concentration of power is especially
dangerous and leads to corruption. It is as Lord Acton warned, “Power corrupts,
but absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
The Right is concerned about high taxes, government waste, and big
bureaucratic government. But, some on the Right waste resources and tax
dollars in pushing for a “Convention of the States” to “amend” the Constitution.
“Amend” in this case is probably going to mean, “Scrap the Constitution and write
a new one.” What, then, if they achieve their goal of having a “Convention of the
States?” What if they cannot reach a consensus on their proposed
Amendments? There are a number of scenarios of what could happen in the
event this happens. The Convention ends early in a disaster, and they return
home in failure. They postpone the Convention for a future date to be
determined, allowing for special interests, corruption, and buy-off to creep in and
hi-jack their Convention. They rewrite the Constitution with more complexity and
greater length in the new Constitution they write.
You take your pick. More government and concentration of power in the Federal
Government? Resources and tax dollars wasted on a “Constitutional Convention”
where it is possible the Constitution could be rewritten? Me personally, better yet,
we do not have a “Convention of the States.” We keep the Constitution we have.
We refuse more government overreach. United, we stand! Divided, we fall!
