When looking at a popular company like Marvel, I see the way that they
advertise their brand to the audience. They have a variety of social
media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.
They also have their own website where they post updates and
information about the company.
Their website have sliding banners that promote new films which create
an interesting and exciting experience for the viewer because we are
seeing new information about Marvel as soon as we are on the site. The
posters are designed with an iconic image based on the promotion that
the company is doing which draws the reader/audience into browsing the
product that it is advertising. Along with the home page, they also have a
separate page that shows all of the films that they have done to date. On
these pages they have the trailer of the film and an overview of it below.
This gives the audience an insight of what the film is about before seeing
it in the cinemas (or buying it). The minimalist presentation is what makes
the website interesting as it focuses more on the visuals than the
quantity. In this case
this is good because the audience would want to have an interesting
presentation of the film.
In terms of the design for the whole website, it has the famous Marvel
red, white and black colour scheme to fit with the colour accent. The
black makes the website mysterious looking which works well with the
new world that Marvel introduces to its fans. The white in the website
4. Research
Instagram:
With Instagram, Marvel promote the cast, crew and films that they have. This is
attention-grabbing for the audience as they are receiving artistic pictures of their
favourite films. Art like pictures is what the audience will draw their attention to on
Instagram, as it is mostly a picture based social platform so this type of promotion is best
for showing off posters. For the film there is an option where I can show the short film in
the IGTV option. The IGTV video is advertised on the page for people to click. The issue
is that it is only viewable in vertical mode, which is not the way I want the audience to
view the film as it is too small to view on screen.
Snapchat:
With Snapchat, I could not find any footage of their stories but I did find other promotions
done through this platform. Snapchat is best way to get viewers to my product as it is a
simple click to the story and a clear view of the promotion. On Snapchat there is a swipe
up option where you will be taken to an embedded link. For my product, I would embed
my final film on the post with instructions on the top saying to do so, which will hopefully
get instant views on the film and will build up an audience for it. Snapchat can also be
used to promote art and current events which will keep the audience intrigued with the
company. The issue with snapchat would be the 24 hour limit because after this time the
post deleats, which closes the link to the video.
5. Visual (posters)
For presenting my product, I will need an acceptable poster to advertise the film. I have
had different ideas of what my poster could look like if I were to make one, so I have
taken pictures of myself as the character looking trapped. After serious consideration, I
have decided not to use the pictures, as I would like to put more emphasis on the prop of
the film as that will provide more of a mystery. I think that the poster needs to look
minimalistic so that it does not reveal too much of the film. For a minimalistic look, it still
needs to be attention captivating so I would put an object that looks eerie and mysterious
in its current form.
LAST TAKE
The poster will show a shot of the TV with the logo of the film. This relates
to the character being trapped inside of the camera world. The TV with
the red text in it makes it seem like the screen has been taken over by
some evil hack, which gives out a chilling vibe to audience through the
poster.
The rest of the background will have black backdrops on it. This makes
the TV sitting room seem shadowy and dark and also gives the
impression of an isolated environment, which also makes the Television
seem frightening as it switched on giving off a weird vibe.
6. Conclusion
To conclude the research I have decided to advertise my product through a website and a Snapchat post.
With the website it will show relevant information about the film (The overview and designs for it). The
website as a whole will be based on the production name âTeleia Productionsâ which I have set up. In my
opinion a website is a great way to advertise a product because it can be very informative and
accessible.
A website is not limited on design which means I can provide a themed page for my film and I can also
provide exclusives on it. Also my films target audience would mostly be aimed at the mid 20s (and some
over 50s), the website will be a great source of production for the over 50s because this age range are
less likely to have Snapchat and Instagram compared to those in their mid 20s.
The reason for advertising my film on Snapchat rather than Instagram, is due to the fact that it is an
easier way to get people to view my film. When posting a story, there will be a link that will take the
viewer straight to the film which will provide a lot of views for the product. Even though Instagram has a
story mode, I do not think it would attract as much of an audience compared to Snapchat. The reason for
this is that it will be on a new account with fewer followers and the only need for the account would be to
promote the production team. With Snapchat, I can name the story for people to view and also do this on
my normal account.

8. Plan (Notes)
For the presentation, I will be talking about the process of
making the film. This will feature the research stage, the
planning and the look of the work. The production
commentary will focus on the detail that I put into the film,
where I explain the process of doing it and the effect it
brings to the film. This is so that the audience have a
better insight of why I chose to make certain decisions
with the film.
There will also be a conclusion to the end of the video.
This will talk about what I would do differently within the
production stages. This information will be presented to
show how I have learnt from the mistakes or not well
thought out decisions I made.
The Paragraphs that I have highlighted in red will not be
included in the video. This is because it will make the
video last too long and it makes the research
commentary last too long. I want the main focus to be
about the final product in the film, rather than talking
about the paper work.

Home page:

This will include a list of films that I
have produced. It will only include my
two FMPs from both years. Posters

This will show a plot description of the

of the film and a dummy button with
the title of the film on.
Last take Sub Page:
The page will be black with a retro
theme to it. There will be a caption
under the retro title saying âwelcome to
the camera worldâ. This slogan is to
relate to the films plot where the
character ends up trapped inside the
camera.
The film will be underneath the title and
slogan. There will be a retro like play
button above the video to resemble the
play icon that appears in the old retro
tapes.
Underneath the video I will put an
overview of the film with description of
the cast and crew.
Coming Soon:
In this page I will talk about the two
movie premiers that are happening on
the 24th of June in the old folk hall and
the 3rd of July in the College.
10. Plan website
For the home page, I am having slides that promote films and show off a nice image I took
myself. The reason for why the slides are on the front page of the website is because it is
visually attractive compared to showing articles.
The movie page will show the films that I have produced. There will be a little overview next
to the film which talks about the plot. This will intrigue the audience into watching the film
because it will give a sneak preview of what the film is about. The posters for the film will be
next to their descriptions. This represents the theme and style of the film, as a bright
coloured poster may represent a light hearted film, whilst darker posters will represent the
darker genres for example thriller or horror.
The âLast Take button on the Movie page will take you to a separate page. The page will
have a retro and dark theme to represent the films style and look. The video presentation
will be included in the page, as it gives exclusive details in how the film was made and the
research behind it. This is so that the audience can see behind the scene information,
which hey may find interesting.
Lastly, the coming soon page. This will show the movie premier sites so that the audience
is aware of any updates from the film. it will also advertise the area for the audience to buy
tickets to go to these places.
11. Cinema
The Short film will have two premiers for it. The first one will be in the old folk
home in new Earswick, which was organised by the students in my class. The
second one is at the college, which will premier the videos and will include a
showcase for the films presentations.
The Old Folk Home showcase will show the majority of the films in the class. The
aim for this premier is to get the film showcased for a bigger audience. This will
show to me whether my film is successful for a premier standard, in terms of the
look of it and the reaction. This event takes place on the 24th June
The College premier will show all the work in the lecture theatre, whilst the
classrooms will show the presentation work. The classroom presentation is for
people to look at, to see how the films were made (if it shows the presentation) or
any additional information. This event takes place on the 3rd of July.
13. Snapchat Results after 24 hours
After looking at different ways to promote my film, I finally decided to use
Snapchat. The Snapchat promotions were very successful as I got 82 views for
the snap post and I ended up with a result of 92 views after the 24 hour mark. I
think that giving the title on the Snapchat story appear to the audience as
âAndreasâ Filmâ is what contributed to me getting clicks. This made the post look
exiting to the audience as it is telling the audience that there is a film to be viewd.
I did have issues with putting my poster on Snapchat because it was not letting
me embed the link to the post, which resulted in that no poster was included on
the story. I believe that a poster could have made the actual story seem more
professional and it would look like a teaser to the film.
I believe that an Instagram post would not have been as successful, because
there is no inclusive name for the story and actually getting people to click the
link may have been more complicated, because they have to do it through the
description. It can be done through the story but the promotion would not have
been as intriguing because there is no title for it.
