Making of an audio track.

1. Notmuch was mentionedforthe audiogoingtowardsthe canonadvertisements,sohere’sadecent
start to anotherpost-productiondiary.Thistimeforthe backgroundmusicalone.
Usingexistingfiles,Ihave downloadedatotal of seveninstrumental tracks byconvertingYouTube
videosintomp3files.Since Iobviouslycan’tuse the musicasit isdue to copyrightrestrictions,Iwill
be editingthe chosentracksto create somethingIcan use withthe NCH software,MixPad.
Those tracks include:

Havingthese songsplaying,Iwaspayingattentiontothe beatspurposelyforthisproject.And
clearly,those thatare currentlyinuse were the onesto catch my attention.Inthe lastpost-
productiondiary,IclaimedIhad six downloadedwithoutupdatingthe addition.Thatadditionwas
‘My Way’ that playedwhilstIwaswaitingformyorderat McDonalds.Payingattentiontothe music
itself, Iendedupwantingtoinvolveit.Justintime aswell asI hadn’tstartededitingthe musicyet.
Listeningthrough‘Someone toyou’, Iam tornbetweenthe sectionfromone of the chorus’ as well
as a sectionrightbefore achorus. I’mnot havingboth,hasto be one or the other. Well actually,I
coulduse both,but onlyif the shoe fits. To use whatI decide togo withthough, Iwill cropout what
I'm after,and will have itloopthroughout.

2. Mutingall tracks exceptthe one I’mfocusingon,bothsectionsImentionedhadbeenshortened
downand separatedreadytobe included.Now ontothe nexttrack.
Before Icarry on,I have got anothersongI want to involve.‘House of Memories’byPanicat the
Disco.
Nowfor ‘All forus’. Yeah,I don’treallyknow how toexplainthe partI’mafterfrom that. It is quite a
longsectionthoughwhichishelpful.Andforit,Iam thinkingof havingthe tune sloweddown.
Thistime,three sectionswere savedfromthe track.Did originallythinkonlyone wouldbe enough
fromeach but shouldactuallyhelpwiththe extraoptions.Evenif theydon’tmake itintothe final
cut, doesn’thurtnoone.
Nextup,PeterQuillsjam.
I neverrealised,the “hey”atthe start of the song wouldbe a part of the instrumental verse.Turns
out theyare.Whichof course,isno issue atall.Likingthe beatbetweenthe heys,the trackhadbeen
cropped.
Rightso I have croppedouta sectionbetweenthe heys...andnow Ihave justfounda longerverse
that has nointerruptions.Howfun.
Finishingoff,onlyone partof that songhas beensaved.A secondcouldhave beenpossibly,butthe
backingchoruswas apart or the instrumentalformatsoitwouldn'thave worked.
Doingthe ShawnMendessongnow, not much wassavedfromthere but I mayhave founda decent
endingforthe finishedpiece.
Takinga small sectionfromwithinthe audioaswell asthe lastfew secondsof the song,one was
placedontop of the othermatchingthe wavesandI actuallybelieveitcouldresultwell.
‘Gone gone gone’: Havingquite awholesome beat,alotof thissonghad beensavedforthe making
of the final track.

3. I placeda sectionfromthe start of the song above anothersectionof the same song.Same beats,
but the secondhasclappinginvolvedwhereasthe firstdoesn’t. Havingtolistenafew times,IfoundI
like it,andit hasto be a part of the cut. Doublingupthe track, itmatchesthe energyof the clapping.
Notreallygotmuch to say aboutthe One Directionsong.A total of three clipshave beencropped
out...and that’sitreally.
Cuttingdown‘My Way’,what attractedme to the songwas the chorusas whenI tappedalongto itI
founda beatI coulduse.But listeningproperlytoitnow the beatisn’tactuallythere.Istill gota
sectionoutof the songthough,so itdidn’tbecome awaste of time.
Nowfinally,‘House of Memories’.
Nowthat the trimmingisover,nowto mashup the tunes.
Goingback to the tracks from ‘gone gone gone’Imentionedearlier.There isactuallyatool to merge
togethertracks.

4. Zoomingin,Iconnectedthe filessothe wavesmatched.
Once the fileshadbeenselected,aseasyasthat theymerged. ListeningtoitthoughI don’tthinkI
am goingto keepthemmerged,listeningtothe clipthe beatisa lot deeperwhereasbefore itwas
quite highpitchedwhichIpreferforthe audio. Now toundothe mergedclip.

Until I have workedoutwhere Iwant all the audioplaced,all the untouchedaudiowillremainalong
the right until IfindI wantto use it. Followingthat,Islidthe twoalreadyusedaudiosalongslightly
as I don’twant themto be whatplaysin the firstsecondof the track.
Firstthingsfirst,let’sfindthataudiotostart off the audiofile.

5. Collectingtracks Ibelievedwouldworkforstartingthe musicoff,there wasa total of three Iam
goingto workthrough.There isanotherI believe couldwork,butwithitbeingasmall tune Iam
goingto have it waitwhilstIdosomethingwiththe numberIbelieve could carryitbest.

6. Aftera lotof concentration,Ihave finallymade anofficialstart.Usingthe openingto‘House of
memories’the musicusesthatsame openingtostartoff.Withthe two filesfrom‘Gone gone gone’
carefullyalignedtosynchronize smoothly.Somethingisneededtohelpsoftenthe beatasitis a little
roughthe opening,butsurelyonce there isanotheraudiofile includeditshouldimprove.
Fallingunsuccessful inhavingone of the audios matcheswithPhilipPhilipssong, insteadIhave got
the openingtoremainwithone of the backbeatsfrom‘All forus’ just slightlymore croppedreaching
a higherpitchedsectionthatIoriginallytrimmedinattempttofititwiththe firsttwo audios.Butas I
said,didn’twork.
Addingthe One Directionsongintothe mix,Ifounditfittedquite well.Havingitlastlonger,Icopied
and pastedthe audiothrice allowingasmall looptoplayout.

7. Here’sthe nextattemptat addinga new soundintothe mix...didn’tworkthough.The filesofarisn’t
energeticenoughwhenitshouldbe.
Here is me changingitup once again,tryingto findthe right soundplayingaroundwithwhatIhave.
Okayokay okay.
Aftera LOT of messingaround,Iam now somewhere Iamhappyto be withthe audio.So far only
three songshave beenincluded,afewmore will be needed. Butthe startof the audioisnow
definitelysorted,nowtogetitfinished.

8. I knowI saidI was done withthe firstfew seconds...butIupgraded it, soitis fine.Now there are
extratunes, andit doesn’tsoundmessy.
At a durationof twenty-sevenseconds,Iamnow done withthisaudiofile finishingof athalf five in
the morning...woop.
Somethingfun. TurnsoutI have wastedmytime workingonthis.The software Ihad usedto create
the track doesn’twantto co-operate inallowingme todownloadthe file asanmp3 withoutsigning
up fora subscriptionwiththe company. Idogetaccess to a MPDP file,butthe the wayI can listento
it playison the same software the track wasmade on. Now I will have tomake do withoutandhunt
aroundfor websites handingoutuncopyrightedmusic.Justhope I’llsucceedinfindingwhatIam
after.
