3. Mission Statement
Our main goal is to save trees in the Amazon rainforest
and to start reforestation. We would like to plant as many
trees as possible, and lower the amount of trees cut down
until the rainforest has been restored.

7. Facts About the Amazon & Deforestation
Deforestation:
● Main reason: Cattle ranching
● Causes climate change
● Impacts the whole world
The Amazon:
● Lost 20% of forest since 1970
● 2.5 acres/per second
● Produces ⅕ of oxygen
● 80% of animals will be impacted from damage
● Many prescription drugs will be gone
● Size = 2.124 million sq mi.

Editor's Notes
Cattle ranching is the main cause of deforestation which results in climate change. Climate change ultimately results in glaciers melting and sea level rising. Deforestation doesn’t just impact the forests, it destroys the whole globe. Meanwhile, we’ve lost 20% of the Amazon (500 thousand sq mi.) in a timespan of 50 years. At the current rate, we’re losing 2.5 acres of forest per second. The Amazon provides one-fifth of the world’s oxygen alone. 80% of the world’s species will be at risk if deforestation continues and more than 100 prescription drugs will be nonexistent. The Amazon is the biggest rainforest in the world, its size is about 2.124 million square miles.
