3. This Amazonia forest is home of nearly 6% of
whole peruvian population that includes native
groups which are owners of ancestral
knowledge of the use of medicinal plants . The
megadiversity extends also to other resources
like native fruits , fishes and timber species.
Also the Amazonia has to offer a big number of
ecosystems and sceneries.
5. Forest Management?
• Which models of forest
management and development
for the amazonian area do we
have to apply?
• Who has the answer?
• Population is increasing in peruvian
jungle, new towns and urban areas
are growing and the demand of
economical incomes is increasing.
• They turn on just on what they
know…to the richness of forests.
They take risk of their life to extract
gold and timber trees, just to
obtain money fast and easy.
6. • They practice
agriculture without
knowledge and with
low farm performance.
Monocultures like oil
palms or sugar cane to
obtain biofuels have to
take big extensions of
primary forest to justify
a profitable
gain, otherwise is just
deforestation……
7. Government
• In Peru exists a governmental situation where
some sectors interfere within them and
nobody has the last word or responsibility. A
new system of intercommunication is
needed, new ways to establish real effective
rules. A way to monitor the practice of rules
and understanding of public managers and
people why do we have to protect or manage
adecquately our forests.
8. Climate change vs. Development
• What can we do to
avoid a 4°C heat
increment in the
world if we continue
with these practices?
• What we can do? If
people continues
doing the same in
name of economical
needs? Or economical
development?
9. We ought to know
• That one of the tipping elements of the
earth is the Amazon rainforest and it is
very sensible to clima changes.
• With only a 2°C heat increase we will have
an obvious reduction in
biodiversity, ecosystems will be affected
and the sustainability of resources will
decrease.
• With a 4°C heat increase, Latin America
will has a dryer clima and this mean a big
reduction in water offer and a lot of
conflicts will arrive with this problem:
food access, agriculture production, risk in
human health between others. We need
to take action!
