Doing something extraordinary well that shouldn't be done at all is the worst you can do. You don't have to finish everything you started, if along the way the reasons and premise for your task at hand don't make sense any longer.

1. Many people brag about such traits,
“I go until the end whatever it takes” or “I always finish what I start.”
I’ve been one of those, and so proud I was. Like something others
should admire and validate as an endearing trait.
What nonsense.
What if the task, initiative, or project is wrong, unnecessary, or based
on faulty premises? Did you finish it anyway?
Such trait is rooted in the general notion that “we keep our promises,”
that “we’re a man of word,” or even of honor.
Well, there’s no more precious trait than admitting something was
wrong. We were wrong, and we adjusted the course or dropped
something utterly useless. Stubbornness vs courage.
