The Human brain is an incredible, powerful machine. But is it flawless?
The speed of our lives, and the increasing amount of decisions and topics demanding our
attention, lead us to “delegate” to brain automatisms.
That’s the base of our blind spots, misleading us with wrong conclusions or inaccurate
analysis. Below are some of the most common, and no one is immune:
-Confirmation bias: You have your beliefs and look for any evidence to justify them, even
if incomplete or unconfirmed.
-Self-serving bias: You reject your failures as caused by external factors, but you take
full responsibility and ownership of your successes.
-Backfire effect: When your beliefs are challenged by evidence and data, it can cause
you to deny it and believe even more strongly (many Covid19 situations are a clear
example).
-Declinism: You refer to the past as better than it was and predict the future worse than it
will probably be.
-Anchoring: Your first impressions and judgment will influence anything that follows.
