2. The “Romantic” effect was used in the montages of
members of the public holding signs. The effect gave a
slight blur to the edges of the shot as well as brought out
colour in the center. It really emphasized how much they
meant to the narrative of the song and video. I feel this
effect successfully brightened up the montages making
them entertaining to see.
3. A cross dissolve was used in the beginning and
middle of the music video. The effect in this shot
highlighted the cut to a different location. In the first
shot our artist is spinning around a pole in town, the
cross dissolve changes it to a shot of him spinning
around a pole in the park. I personally feel this cross
dissolve was successful when trying to target a
younger audience.
4. Ken burns was used a few times throughout
the music video. This effect allowed us to
change how the shot looked completely by
zooming it in and out. It was very easy to
understand and use and helped us achieve
these “faster camera movements” asked for by
our target audience.
5. The Vignette Mask allowed us to successfully
develop the narrative of the music video. In this shot
our star looks up the the top right of the screen. We
overlayed a shot of a girl there and added a Vignette
mask to it. This shot had this effect to symbolize him
thinking of her, linking to the “love”
narrative/concept of the music video.
9. In a lot of text on our ancillaries we used a
bevel to develop synergy. This gave a 3D
addition to the font. We wanted this effect
to be noticeable so we increased the size in
settings. I personally feel the use of the
bevel effect helped our stars name stand
out more.
10. The use of a Layer mask was a vital towards
our final product. This allowed us to blur the
background and make our artists stand out and
engage with the reader. The blurred
background was inspired by existing products
as many POP magazines use a layer mask,
blurring the background or removing it. I am
very pleased with how this layer mask effect
ended up.
11. We decided to use an outer glow in a lot of the
smaller fonts. This effect made them stand out
towards our target audience. I changed the colour
of the glow behind in order to suit the colour
scheme of the ancillaries. I also adjusted the size of
the glow making it stand out a little more while still
not being too overpowering.
