In what ways does your media product use
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
2. My media product adapts the conventions of the horror/thriller genre to engage my audience.
3. However... Subtle changes have been made to the stereotypical view of the genre to keep the audience interested.
4. Similarities between my title sequence and real media products? Picture on picture effect has been used in both mine and the professional opening titles. Similar effects to the text; we both made the appearance on screen slow but used quick flashes. We had lots of close-ups. Similar dull and low key lighting used. Short clips with flashing images. The font also flickered.
5. How I developed and challenged real media products? The opacity of the picture on picture was challenged to develop a more clear onscreen view. The text was challenged by only some presented with the effects of slow motion and longer flashes. But also the font moved whilst onscreen. The font wasn’t kept the same throughout the title sequence. We also had some longer shots to build tension when combined with the music.
6. Examples: Here I have moved the font from its original position around the screen. This was done to add to the unease feel of the titles. This also demonstrates one of the continuous flashes. Here there is similar low key lighting to the opening titles of ‘Se7en’.
7. The Sound used within my media text is similar to that of –Se7en- and ‘The Thing’ as all the soundtracks build tension. However within my project this has been developed by a more fast pace rhythm to emphasise the panic as well as the music fitting to the view within the frame. For example, the main title at the end flashes to the beat of the music.
