1. Age?
Evaluation:
If we look at the age of our audience then we can tell whether the opinion of the
people we asked is a general view or is just the view of that age group. With this
evidence we can tell if the film we are making is suitable for which age group but
we can see here that we have mostly asked the older aged people, so if we do not
get a positive view on thriller films then we will know that they are not the right
audience.
How often do you watch thriller films?
Evaluation:
From this information we can see that most of the people we asked only watch
thriller films occasionally, this means that the group of people we asked would
probably not be the right audience as most chose sometimes or never. But the
likeliness of finding someone who only ever watches thrillers would be very low
so this must be taken into account.
If you do watch thriller films, what types do you enjoy most?
Evaluation: This graph shows that the most popular genre is either comedy or
action, this is a good sign as action is the genre our film leans to the most,
however the most is the comedy which is obviously the most popular but isn't a
good sign for our film. But seeing as this is probably not the ideal audience we
were looking for this still means our film could be successful with a different age
group.
Why do you like watching thriller films?
2. What do you think is essential to thriller films?
Would you prefer a more scripted thriller film (inception), a film with more
suspense (the strangers) or a film with more action (die hard)?
Evaluation: The largest percentage of the people we asked said they would much
prefer a more scripted storyline than one mainly fueled by action or suspense, I
believe the main reason for this is the audience we asked was of an older age so as
a rule people who are older much prefer a drama orientated film instead of a
thriller with action.
Do you think the soundtrack is important to a thriller film?
Evaluation: The most accepted answer here was that the soundtrack of a film was
very important to the plot. I think this is because that with most of the people
choosing a more scripted film as a preference that it would need more to keep the
watcher interested and captivated, as there are not as many “dramatic events” in
more scripted films.
