23. Proposal
Dimensions
Number of pages: 10-12, since my story has a fair few details I will have to produce more pages and so I believe
that between 10 and 12 will be a good amount for me to tell the story.
Story Overview
After a peasant and his children have to bear the burden of their wife/mother dying, their father believed that a house is not fully
complete without a woman. He finds a stepmother and they become jealous of his children so she sends them to her step family’s
house, home to the baba yaga. The children stop by their grandmothers before and she gives them warm advice and a supply of
food. When they reach the baba yaga’s house they realise they must work or she will eat them and she hopes for them to stop
working. They meet a series of pets which the baba yaga owns who offer them advice on how to escape.
Export Format
PDF, JPEG
Advantages: These two file types allow a large amount of information to be stored relatively quickly as well as being
extremely compatible with every program I will be using.
Disadvantages: A PDF file is perceived as an image by the computer and because of this it makes it very difficult to edit
without having the adobe acrobat pro. JPEG images are not great for editing since they lose resolution every time you edit or
compress the file.

Audience

The target audience will be girls and boys between the ages of 1-5, this is also aimed at being enjoyable for
the adults to read to their children. This is aimed at people who live in the united kingdom who can have a
more british version of the classic russian tale. This is aimed at any class of people.
Production Methods
I will be using photoshop for my production since it offers a large number of tools which can allow for a variation of style, I will
be using simple shapes for my style since I don’t believe I have the advanced photoshop skills to be to fancy with my design.
These shapes will have certain effects applied to them, perhaps I will threshold the bottom layer to give a more comic book
feel or I could just sharpen/apply effects to the certain shapes to just stick with a more modern folk illustration style.
25. What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?
The proposal is very good as you go into a lot detail
about the storyline, which gives a good sense of
what the story is actually going to be like. Another
strength is that you have given reasons for your
choices for example when you said about the
amount of pages you are going to be using.
An area of your proposal that could be improved is
the audience part. You could maybe go into some
more detail about why that is your audience, this is
because at the minute it is very brief and could do
with some extra detail.

further developed?
A strength of your idea generation is that you have
explored lots of different points about your story,
and have gone into great detail about what the
story is about and how you’re going to make it.
The only thing I can think of for an improvement for
your idea generation is to maybe add some more
pictures.

I am happy with the feedback I have received because it highlights the strong parts of
my work but also offers nice guidance on what I can improve on. I was happy to find
specific areas highlighted for improvement so it is easy for me to understand.
Which parts of your feedback do you agree with and why?
I agree with all of my feedback and would class it as fair criticism which I will be aiming
to improve on.
Which parts of your feedback do you disagree with and why?
Perhaps the one thing I may slightly disagree with is the pictures on my mood board, I
think for my topic it is enough pictures for people to understand the general gist of my
story/style.
