6. PC Disassembly
1. Unplug all the
cables and wires.
The first thing you
do is to unplug
every cable that is
plugged in to your
computer.
2. Open the outer
shell / case.
For this, you need
to unscrew the
four screws found
at the back of the
computer to have
access to the side
panels and open
them.
3. Remove the
system fan.
First, you need to
unplug the fan
from the
motherboard and
then unscrewing
the fan from the
outside.

CPU fan.
The CPU fan is
located right on
top of the CPU
heat sink, which is
a large piece of
metal with fins on
the top.
5. Remove the
power supply.
Before removing
the power supply,
you first need to
disconnect all the
devices connected
to it. Then
unscrew the
power supply
from the back of
the computer.
6. Remove CD /
DVD Drives
First, unplug the
ribbon from the
back of the drive.
Once that is
completed, pull on
the tab securing
the drive in place,
then push it out
from the inside.

Hard Drive
First, unplug the
connector at the
back of the slot,
and unplug the
other end from
the motherboard.
8. Remove the
Memory Module
To remove the
RAM, push down
on both tabs
holding the RAM
in place, which are
located at both
ends of the RAM.

Motherboard
The motherboard
has seven screws
holding it to the
frame, which are
indicated by large
white circles
around them.
Remove them and
then lift the
motherboard out of
the frame.

1. Prepare your
workplace.
Prepare everything
you need. Have
your tools
prepared, assembly
area prepared,
antistatic
equipment, and
lastly software and
drivers necessary.
2. Prepare the
Motherboard.
When handling
the motherboard
make sure to
handle it with
care. Check for
any defects and
also read the
manual.
3. Install the CPU.
When installing
the CPU, make
sure to align the
pins. There’s
usually an arrow
or a missing pin to
that will show you
how to line things
up.

Heat Sink.
Follow the
manufacturer's
directions to install
the heat sink and
the fan that will
cool the processor.
Attach the clip that
holds the heat sink
in place then
connect the power
connector to the
motherboard
5. Install Memory
(RAM).
In order to install
the memory
modules, insert
them into the
proper sockets
(Figure 48) and
push down firmly
but evenly until the
clips on both sides
of the socket pop
into place.
6. Place the
motherboard into the
case.
When installing the
motherboard, check if
your case has a
removable
motherboard tray and
install the
motherboard using
brass standoffs. Also
check the ports if
they’re correct. After
all of that, install the
motherboard inside
the case.

power supply.
Plug the ATX power
connector in your
power supply to the
correct port in the
motherboard. Then
connect all the
cables of different
devices into the
motherboard
8. Install Graphics
/ Video Card
Begin by
removing the
backplane cover
from the AGP or
PCI Express X16
slot. Install the
graphics board in
that slot, and then
secure the card
with a screw.
Install Internal Drives
Make any necessary
changes to jumpers
on the drives before
mounting them in the
case. Use the included
screws to attach your
drives to the rails or
cage, and slide them
into the case. When
the drives are
installed, connect
power and data cables
to each one.

10. Install Add-in cards
For each add-in card, you must choose a free PCI slot.
Remove its backplane cover to allow access from the rear of
the case. Carefully position the card above the slot, and
press down firmly to seat the card. Secure the card with a
screw.
