SOUND
Fabio Peterson- head of sound at Mama Mia
 Head of sound is responsible for any audio within the production.
 Two and a half hoursbeforethe performance-Soundcheck routine, check
all microphones and speakers etc. It is a team effort (one person on the
sound deck, two on stage).
 Bad sound is impossible to hide.
 40% operator, 60% artistic role.
 Mix the vocals and the band.
 Working with live bands.
 Degrees, diplomas and work experience.

 The sound does more than just amplify the performer’s voices, it crafts
the sound scape.
 Bring the show out to the audience.
 Help to tell the story.
 Wireless microphones on all cast.
 Microphonegoesunder the costumeand held by an elastic belt pack. And
is taped using medical tape on the ear or in the middle of the forehead.
 Controlwhen the micro phone is on and how it sounds and how loud it is.
 Try to make it sound as if the voices are coming from the stage, not the
speakers and the orchestra coming from the orchestra.
 Have a dynamic.
 Sound mixer performs every night, with no break.
 Got to mix the sound even if it is just dialog.
 Need to know all the orchestra cues, when to bring them in.
