Wicked- Behind the Emerald Curtain:
The sound does more than amplify the performer’s voices, it crafts a soundscape
which goes from orchestra to mezzanine.
Tony Meola is the sound designer- They help to bring the show out to the audience,
it also helps to tell the story
The microphone goes underneath the costume in an elastic belt pack and comes up
and sits on the side of the actors face or middle of the forehead, and then medical
tape would be used to attach it to the performer.
The sound controller controls which microphone is on, how it sound and how loud it
is.
The aim is to make it sound as though the voices are coming from the stage and the
orchestra is coming from where they actually are.
The sound mixer performs every night with no break.
The sound needs to be mixed even when there is no music or dialogue
The sound mixer needs to know the scripts so they know all the cues for all the
performers.
They need to be concentrating at all times
