Teaching Philosophy
Education is a path to learning, and teachers' responsibility is to support
this path by providing students with a variety of learning opportunities that meet
their individual learning needs. It's enjoyable to teach mathematics when you see
your students gain new knowledge and abilities. Targeting mastery of the learning
competencies requires offering students a variety of learning activities where
they can practice until they develop the necessary skills.
To scaffold their learning journey and categorize their learning ability, I
typically begin my lesson with a one-minute drill on the foundations. That allows
me to divide my students into three categories: advanced, average, and sluggish
students. This will now serve as the foundation for any group activities they do to
improve their social skills while they learn. After motivating them with a
contextualized real-life word issue that they can work on in groups, I assist them
in group analysis of their solutions as they are presented. I'll then demonstrate a
suggested procedure for arriving at the right answer. Exercises and alone
activities can help them practice their new knowledge before they generalize it.
I assess their learning in a formative manner using engaging tools like
games, puzzles, or conventional objective-type tests. Giving students performance
feedback is crucial for their reflection as well as for my decision-making during
instruction. I can ensure that individuals will have a greater capacity for learning
with this teaching practice, regardless of where they are starting from. As each
student has a different learning capacity and set of demands, using learner
profiles helps me to adapt the learning activities that are best for them.
